^ Never seen the fifth photo before... Yoko looks so young and pretty.

I love this photo from the House Husband Days. They look so cool... so Upper West Side in the 70s.

A lot of people don't like this photo, but I think it's amazing. It was taken in November 1972, the day after Nixon was re-elected. If you recall, John had a lot of apologizing to do...

How could anyone not love this pic? It says so much. I always found it extremely brave that John was willing to show his vulnerable side. He didn't need to be the macho male in every picture. He had a need to be "mothered" in a way, and I feel that so many photos of John and Yoko showcase this. Some people may consider it unhealthy for roles to be reversed in such a way, but I honestly feel that there was a side of John that was very, very strong and another that needed to be nurtured- and this is the case with a lot of men. Particularly if you never experienced having a mother in the conventional sense.

I do adore that picture, and very apropos given the circumstances. And her coat is to die for.

That's a beautiful picture AppleScruff...they look so happy, so content, yet so aware of how precious every moment was, that it could disappear at any time--but they would somehow handle it, however sad they would be. That's just my impression of those period pictures. It seems though, that Yoko was more able to handle such a tragedy, where I think John would wither & die without Yoko if the tables had been turned.

I've got to say, for a woman who is often labeled as anything but sweet, Yoko looks absolutely adorable in these pics. She has this glow about her.

OMGoodness! You really know how to pxspam, don't you AppleScruff?! Great shots, and most I had never seen before. I'm afraid I am going to have to take a short John break :-( the more I see pictures of John & Yoko, esp from 1980, I just get sadder and sadder :..( It reminds me too much that he's not with us. When I just listen to the music, I can transport myself back to 1979 when all was well, and I can fool myself into believing that John is somewhere on Planet Earth, dreaming up new and fantastic songs...

I know 4iiiis. I get very sad that John isn't here. I never even got to experience having John sing and perform in my lifetime. Sometimes I think it's not fair, that John isn't here making music or touring or doing this or that. But then I think...you know, John's tragic ending can not belie the fact that he gave me so many of the greatest songs I have ever heard in my life. His voice will forever blow me away, and his art work will forever touch my heart. John was a legend in his lifetime, which is no small feat, and he created a band that people still go crazy for, a band that will still be played for many, many years to come.

So even though he isn't here physically, John's presence is very much here. It's in the air when we hear his music, or when we see these organizations promoting a better world, or see people's faces as they watch something like "Nowhere Boy" in the theatre. He's here in his sons, who are both very talented and great guys, and when you see Macca play "Here Today" or hear Ringo discuss his fab days...John is here in Yoko and her fearless peace promotions, POB shows, and the way she lovingly carries on his legacy.

I don't think, as Yoko said, "John could ever die." His life was cruelly and unfairly taken away from him at an artistic peak. There will always be "what ifs...?" But those always make you sad, which is something I don't think John would want. Enjoy what he gave us- which is so much. I used John's songs recently in a production I put together with elementary school students and the young boys were so impressed at the lyrics and the delivery, as well as the beat and the chorus of one song (I think it was "Come Together") that they asked me, "Who is this guy?" I mean, that is something.

When as artist who passed away 30 years ago can make the impact John still does, how can we really say he's dead?

This picspam is wonderful. I want to make one myself, actually. You've inspired me to really kind of have fun on this forum that was really being a tad abandoned for some time. I totally do not want you taking a break but I can't tell you what to do. Just remember: horrible and unspeakable tragedies happen every day. Not many of these innocent victims, to be honest, can leave this earth with what John left all of us. And for that he should be celebrated and adored. As time passes, I believe I've grown to love him even more. He is in a very top part of my heart no other musical artist can ever replace.
