Default Lost Weekend Question 5

///

What happened in the Burbank Studios, L.A. (March 28, 1974) during the Lost Weekend that was an extraordinarily significant event in Beatles history !!!

And... what eventuated from that session that, unbelievably, most Beatles fans don't know about ??? !!!

easy... ;)

OK... it seems the Lost Weekend is getting even more lost... so, here's a clue...

It involves another Beatle (ex-beatle).

easy... ;)

March 28 was when the session "A Toot and a Snore in '74" was recorded with Paul McCartney. As far as I know it was never officially released but I know it as a bootleg.

Yep, correct again... the admins of this forum should give you a medal, Kay !!!

After the breakup of the Beatles, Lennon and McCartney only ever had one studio jam session together (Burbank Studios, L.A. March 28, 1974. Not since Abbey Road, in 1969, had John and Paul played together. A rare bootleg was made of the session called, 'A Toot and a Snore' released by a dubious outfit, Mistral Music in 1992.

Check the lineup

Lennon (guitar & vocals)
McCartney (harmony & drums)
Stevie Wonder (vocals & electric piano)
Linda McCartney (Hammond B3 organ)
Harry Nilsson (vocals)
Jesse Ed Davis (guitar)
Ed Freeman (bass)
Bobby Keyes (saxophone)

And featuring... May Pang bashing on a tambourine, yeah. lol :)

So why was this such an extraordinarily significant event in Beatles history ???

Coz...
It was during the Lost Weekend when... Lennon/McCartney played in a studio together for the very last time !!!

easy... ;)

Ya' know, I recently read that May Pang was not there. But I've also read she was.

There's often confusion between 'The May Pang Tapes' and 'A Toot and a Snore'... but yeah, Pang was present at the Burbank Studios (L.A. March 28, 1974). She was even bashing on a tambourine at John Lennon's request... she can be heard playin quite predominantly on the last track.

easy... Justin
