Ringo Recording New Album!
Hurrah! Ringo is recording a new album:
From: http://today.reuters.com/news/newsAr...C-STARR-DC.XML
Q: WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR WORK ON THE NEW ALBUM?
A: Right now I'm just finishing up recording so I can have a break before I start rehearsing myself, of course, in my studio to get to know Rod Argent and Billy Squier's numbers. I'm just finishing the album, it probably won't be out this year because of the tour and then I'll want a break. I'll probably finish it 'round about November. That's the plan. It's a CD in the works.

Wow, it feels like only yesterday that Choose Love was released! In fact it was one year ago last Monday. Remember how much we speculated about him re-releasing it with more tracks, and how long we should wait to make sure we got the best edition? Looks like we needn't have worried!

That's great news; thanks for sharing.
You know, as I was reading through Beatlefan yesterday, I read that according to SoundScan, Choose Love had only sold 19,926 copies. It's such a shame that a solid album like this did not sell more copies. With all the promotion Ringo seemed to be involved in, I thought that it would have sold better than than it did. Too bad--Choose Love is one of his best, and all the albums he's done since Time Takes Time on have been very enjoyable.
Now, wouldn't it be great if Ringo worked with Rick Rubin as well as Mark Hudson!

What promotion? Other then the odd talk show appearance and review there was barely any promotion involved. Koch isn't a huge company so I guess they can't do too much, unlik Paul & Capitol. And Ringo didn't even tour last year. It seems that the only people who buy Ringos new albums are the ones who are already fans of Ringo and know that its available. Thats not saying anything bad about the music itself, just the fact that Ringo seems destined to be making albums for a certain group of loyal fans. And being one of em, I hope he continues for as long as he wants.

I most certainly was not criticizing Ringo in the least. I have everyone of Ringo's albums and will continue to purchase them whenever they are released. More or less, I was criticizing the cd buying public at large and the music industry in general. The same thing with many other great bands and artists on independent labels who are releasing interesting and quality music--they often go unnoticed.
Ringo's promotion included: Good Morning America concert performance, VH-1 Classic 30 min. interview special, PBS Soundstage perfomance (which was awesome, I might add) and various other talk-show appearances. I thought that might garner a little interest in his new songs.
Now if Ringo would only tour with the Roundheads...too bad that Mark Hudson had other committments and couldn't be on this All-Starr tour as was first reported.

Sorry, I was misinterpreted. I wasn't accusing you of criticizing Ringo. I was more or less criticizing the same people as you for the same reasons. Sorry if I came off as criticizing you.

While I agree that everything since Time is solid stuff, Choose Love was just ok to me... I feel like he needs to mix up producers...

That would be great - I feel like there's just too much Hudson and it's creating some blandness on the albums (especially the last two).
I would love another Time takes Time!

I would love another Vertical Man. In fact I would love another Ringo, for that matter.
But I'd still take another Choose Love, because I think that's what we're going to get. As long as it's not another Ringo The 4th...

I mentioned in April that I ran into Mark Hudson and Gary in Santa Monica and they said they had just got back from England working on the new record.
