Welcome to Beatlelinks, couldburst. We hope you enjoy visiting this site and post as much as you want.

I don't play guitar, but we do have several members here that do. I'm sure one of them, if not more, will be glad to help you out.

A lot of the Beatles (early ones especially) songs were simple use of chords. It was the way they put them together with instrumentation and harmonies that captivated the world.
If you go to www.beatlescentral.com, you can find the tablature by album. Start with the first one and go from there. Looking at the progression of the music will be like taking a course in popular music.

a few easy fun ones i like to play are:
My Sweet Lord
Here Comes the Sun
well, those are just a couple i've been playing today in memory of George.
OLGA and INGA also have lots of guitar chords and tabs.

Beatle songs are what i learned first years ago and still are an excellent way of learning the guitar.
good luck

Hi there! I just started playing the guitar as well and the easiest one for me to play is "Across the Universe".

The first one I learned to play was "You've Got to Hide You Love Away"...that's pretty easy. Good luck and welcome!

"Love Me Do" and "Things We Said Today."

Check out the Beatles Tabulature page on the web. You can download some cool guitar music there.

Welcome aboard, Cloudburst. Personally, I would have to say that "I'm A Loser" is good one to play acoustically. That is if you sing, play guitar, and blow harp at the same time.

You've got to hide your love away, was the first tune I ever learnt. But Elenor Rigby has got to be the easiest of all Beatle tunes to play. Intro(C Em) verse (Em c) chorus( Em) When you play the Em for the chorus start with your left pinky (asuming your right handed) on the 1st string 3rd fret and go down a fret on each phrase of the "all the lonley people" ie. 1st/3rd, 1st/2nd, 1st/1st, then 1st/open. Hope that helps a bit.

I need to correct my previous post, the "all the lonely people part is played 2nd string/3rd fdret, 2nd/2nd, 2nd/1st, and 2nd, open while strumming the open E. Must have been sleep typing on the last post. Sorry.

May seem that easy, but do bear in mind that the Beatles scrambled around with the chords, mixing them with Jazz chords.

Yet, if you forget about that, about anything from their first 2 albums is easy to play for a beginner.

Hey, thanks a lot for all the info! (and compliments on my name too!)
Even though i'm a bigger fan of stuff they did later in their career (eg. Revolver, Help), I guess i'll start with something on their 1st or 2nd album since they sound simpler.

Joe: i understand, we lost a legend last week. He was my 2nd favorite Beatle.

OLGA.NET can give you a great start in learning Fab songs. And if you can afford it, buy The Complete Beatles, a hardback book with EVERY song transcribed for EVERY instrument. Good luck.

I also play guitar, and somtimes I play the fool.

I'm in the same boat as you, and here's the ones I'm attempting:

Please Please Me (super simple)
Across the Universe
Two of Us
Hide Love Away
..well like everyone else said, most early stuff.

I would really recommend the Anthology chord books, it's layed out pretty simple..and I've gotten alot out of them!

I taught myself "I'm Happy Just to Dance With You" and "Things We Said Today."
