you never give me your money
Does anyone else here love this song? Funny thing is I very rarely hear it mentioned. But to me its one of those 'magical' beatles songs like strawberry fields, a day in the life, and across the universe that is able to push all the right buttons. It is musically fascinating and diverse and powerful. Lyrically Macca has never been better in weaving metaphors."one sweet dream came true today". "oh that magic feeling nowhere to go. The way the song is able to shift from section to section, changing completely musically but somehow remaining true to the theme is amazing. The guitar work is awesome too especially at the end. Simple stated everything is good about this song and I dont see why it doesnt get more attention. Its a cant miss masterpiece from begining to end in my book.

I may even go as far as saying this is one of my favorites from Abbey Road, the highlights of the song is Paul's "Out of college, money spent, see no future pay no rent" part and the outro with the 1234567 part, classic!

the outro is creepy and brilliantly done with all those sound effects(a radio out of tune?) and crickets chirping. Another highlight is the harmonzing after 'oh that magic feeling nowhere to go'. Oh hell the whole song is a highlight.

Matt, I'll say it again: You're great with words! I've loved this song from the first time I heard it. I especially like the up-beat part of the song "One Sweet Dream" and "Ohhhh, that magic feeling!"

I enjoy this song. When I think of it as a song, I think of it as not finished, it's part of a song. Don't ask me why, it just doesn't come to mind as a song itself.

I LOVE this song. It's just another one of the masterpieces that came from Abbey Road. I love how it fades off, with the crickets chirping, and the "1234567" chant. Very very spooky, it's awesome.

Re: you never give me your money
I also think the whole song is a masterpiece, and my sister seems to agree with me.
It's really a fantastic work of collecting small pieces of a song and turning them into a heavy work of rock. I especially like that ascending guitar that plays after the 'one sweet dream' part, and the repeated riff at the end (I'm guessing it's George on both but then again I'm not sure - could be Paul as well).
Amazing song, and yes, it rarely does get mention. Right as always, Matt.

I LOVE this song! The lyrics are fantastic (I particularly like the "One sweet dream" part... ), and I just love how seamlessly each segment of the song flows into the next one. It really shows Paul's brilliance quite well. I just adore this song, to the millionth exponent.

Well, I've never considered this song one of their bests. I like it, beacause it is a Beatles song, but I really prefer others. That was a bitter song, dedicated to Allen Klein, so, the connotations are not so good...

Re: you never give me your money
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG! It practically brings me to tears when I hear it. I think it is to beautiful and poinant. I love the outro 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 all good children go to heaven...so spooky and calming. And I think it's the best that it pops back up later in the medley. Gorgeous song.
