Zachary Quinto is uncanny as young Spock, but I'm not sure about the guy playing Kirk. The scenes with Kirk as a little boy gives me flashbacks to Anakin skywalker in Phantom Menace.

Erik, you got to meet my son! I bet he's as big if not a bigger 'geek' than you! I had a strong sense of déjà vu. What you wrote is almost word for word what he's been saying!

I must say, though, that from what I've heard so far, the scenario sounds a bit odd to me. I'm not a Trekkie like my son but watches the show and movies. Can't quite make this one fit in with the rest. Particularly find it disturbing that JJ Abrams doesn't like the TOS and wants to make it more like Star Wars!

All that "geeky" stuff is a sign of superior intelligence!

A guy I used to work with was into D and D as a kid, then he
and his buddy got into "Braveheart" and started attending the
Renaissance festivals in kilts and beards!

Love that video. I have actually pondered over whether Picard or Kirk was the best captain.

Total Trek geek checking in! I must admit, I am going to see this movie...opening day I'm sure...as I have all the others ;) but yeah, I haven't made up my mind, but the guy playing Spock looks a LOT like a young Leonard Nimoy. I enjoyed him in the first 2 seasons of "Heroes" too, I haven't been watching this season, but I think he's a good actor.

I'm both anticipating and dreading this.

I'm impressed with Zachary Quinto as Spock (he's got the looks and the mannerisms down!) but I think Kirk's way too pretty. William Shatner was also a pretty boy but he still had a little edge to him. I'll hold judgment until I actually see the film.

I find the looks of the actors the least worrisome aspect of this movie!

Huge huge Sci Fi geek here as well.

Ever since learning about space in elementary school, I was obsessed with anything involving outer space and space travel.

Then, because of shows like Star Trek, Lost in Space, Space 1999, Star Wars IV, I became a huge Sci-Fi fan.

I was not to be denied my Star Trek in the pre-cable days, and had to put aluminum foil on my TV antenna to pull in distand stations so that I could get my Trek on, and had a real thing for Lt. Uhura LOL.

I have watched all of the incarnations of Star Trek movies and series', and I too am a little apprehensive about this newest offering. I felt that Abrams would be an interesting choice considering his background and all, he could possibly bring new life into the series... and choosing Winona Ryder is a good start. But, turning over the keys of this exalted series to produce an Armageddon type offering will not sit well with me. I hope he honors Roddenberry and his vision.

Admittedly, I have not seen the various trailers for this movie yet, but the teaser I just saw recently, of course has really peaked my interest.

I'm totally looking forward to the new Star Trek movie. It looks like a blast!

Oooops? Did I say that out loud??? My bad . . .

I grew up on the original Star Trek, ate up TNG, and even followed DS9 and, to a lesser extent, Voyager. I caught a couple of episodes of ST the other night on the telly, and I gotta tell you - after watching the newer shows, and immersing myself in Star Wars and the ilk, I'm actually ready for a revamped ST.

I was, however, a wee bit disturbed to notice the absolute resemblence to Anakin (I really, really hated that kid! Although that may be because I knew he was gonna become Darth Vader somewhere down the road . . .) Spock was my heartthrob back in the day, though - and I'm gonna be a tad too critical watching Quinto - all squinty eyes and trips down memory lane, doing the mental side-by-side in me mind's eye and all that . . .
