Default Which Songs Am I Missing?

Hi everybody, I was hoping I could get a little help.
With the remasters coming out next month I've decided it'll be a good time to complete my Beatles CD collection.

I currently own a hodgepodge of Beatles CD's.
Some are the UK versions and some are the US versions which I prefer having grown up with them.

At any rate I won't be able to buy the box sets but want to own at least one version of every song whether it's the UK or US version.

Here's a list of the CD's I own:

The Beatles EP Collection
The Capitol Albums, Volume 1
The Capitol Albums, Volume 2
Help!
Revolver
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Beatles (AKA The White Album)
Abbey Road
Let It Be
1962-1966
Past Masters Volume Two
Yellow Submarine Songtrack

Besides the CD's listed above I also own all three Anthology collections.
I don't consider the versions of the songs on these to be definitive though.

I know one that I'll be getting for sure (Magical Mystery Tour).
I'll get three songs that I don't have on CD with it "Hello Goodbye", "Strawberry Fields Forever", and "Penny Lane".

What other songs am I missing and which releases do I need to have one version of every song?

You only need:
Rubber Soul (Parlophone version for two songs, "If I Needed Someone" and "What Goes On" which are not on the Capitol Rubber Soul or the EP set.)
and, as you say, Magical Mystery Tour for those songs you mentioned.
I think that's it!

There are different versions of songs, as you note, but not many;
Past Masters Vol 1 (for the Ringo version of "Love Me Do" which isn't on any other CD, the German version of She Loves You, "Sie Leibt Dich",)

and, not on past masters, a solitary CD single, "Help!" (different vocals to the stereo album and the mono Capitol album)

Good job Duke, my notes are very simular, with one exception I'm Down is still missing, but it can be found on Past Masters Vol. 1. So I'd suggeat getting MMT, Rubber Soul, and PM Vol. 1

D'Oh! I knew something or other would be! Ah- but getting the Help! mono single would give both help! AND I'm Down, so really... I was right, too, without knowing it!

If you don't have the Beatles' cover of "Bad Boy", the only albums I've known it to be on are A Collection Of Beatles Oldies... But Goldies and The Beatles "Rarities" from the UK and on Rock And Roll Music from the US.

...or Beatles VI. Which is included on Capitol Albums Vol. 2.

Thank you all very much for the responses!

I've been working on a list of sorts for a while now trying to figure this out.
It's really maddening for someone like myself.

I finally finished it this afternoon and checking it VS the info you kind folk provided I can see exactly what I'm needing.

I took the list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...gs#0.E2.80.939

and imported it into notepad.

I think in addition to MMT, Rubber Soul, and Past Masters I'm going to get Live at the BBC too.
There's a lot of good songs on it that are found nowhere else.

P.S. I want to clarify my post about the Anthology sets.
I read what I posted up there and it came off like I didn't like / enjoy these.
The fact is I love 'em.
They provide a most excellent peek into the studio with the Lads.

Well if you want to be a completist, I'd also get the Baby It's You (BBC), Free as a Bird, and Real Love EPs

I unfortunately just can't afford to be a completest right now.
If I could I would buy the Mono and Stereo Box Sets.

So one version of each song is my goal for now although someday I want to have them all.

I was lucky enough to find a used copy of the Free As A Bird EP a while back so I have that one covered at least.

While at my local used record store today I picked up copies of Past Masters Vol. 1, Rubber Soul, Magical Mystery Tour, and Live at the BBC.

I posted in another thread here somewhere but I came across enough cash to order myself a Mono Box Set.

I'm going to hold off on the Stereo Box for the time being so these 1987 Remasters are going to have to tide me over.

Thanks again you guys for helping me figure out what I was missing.

Er... shouldn't you have waited just one more week...? Why buy the old versions when the new ones will be available in about 10 days...?

Well it was as I said a "used record store" so I paid a lot less than I would have if they were new.

Also I'm only buying the Mono Box and wanted Stereo versions of the songs I was missing.

I guess I could have waited and got the new stereo remasters but I really don't expect the remasters to be to much different than the 1987 versions.

I know there will be some improvement but until they do an actual "remix" of the 2, 4, and 8 track master tapes there's only so much they can do to improve on things.

Just my opinion but I think the biggest improvement / difference will be getting the albums on the Mono Box that have been previously unavailable in mono.

That's what I'm looking forward to most!

Well... although the remasters are amazing, I always think a dedicated Beatles fan should own some vinyl. I have all the original albums on vinyl plus many 45s (singles)... listening to them on a turntable gives you the "original" Beatles experience. Rubber Soul and Revolver are suggestions for vinyl...
