Ummm...Maybe \"Don\'t Believe What You Read\" is a good motto...
Found this on another list:
Geoffrey Giuliano, author of the Townsend biography, reported dead in the
WTC attack, is apparently alive and well. A contact of mine in the news
business says a reporter who was researching Giuliano's "death" spoke with
him by phone today. The author said he has been swamped with calls from
people trying to get in touch with his family due to his supposed demise.
He was in NYC at the time of the attack meeting with his publisher, but was
not at the WTC. - D. G. Devlin
***********
Now, lemme say this, then: this is the same guy who said George was dying...has he just given us another reason not to trust him? Geez, and I felt so bad for disliking him so much since I thought he'd died so horribly...

So we all still hate him then?
Seriously though... I found a list online somewhere of all the victims, they had like a databse you could search... and I immediately became suspicious when I couldn't find G.G's name anywhere on there.
Can anyone confirm any of these stories?

NWM, those databases are not always correct -- there were warnings going out about some of them because they allowed people to just add their own information directly instead of submitting it to someone, and they discovered that they were full of errors. Also, I don't think any of the so-called lists are finalized or that they exactly match each other.
However, that said, if GG faked his own death (geez, I sure hope not!) then that makes him all the more sleazy in my book, considering the circumstances...this is not something to joke around about!

I can't imagine why G.G. would want to fake his own death, Susan, unless he wanted to say that like Mark Twain, the rumors of his death had been greatly exaggerated. Chances are it was an honest mistake. Still, I have to admit I was wondering what G.G. was doing at the WTC in the first place -- I didn't think publishers had their offices there.

If he did fake his death (to boost his book sales or for whatever reason) then yeah, that is very low!

I'll tell you why he'd fake his own death. To get attention. He's a very controversial man, and he could have used the tragedy to his advantage. Reports of him dying horribly in the worst terrorist attack in the US would make people write about him respectfully. (We did!)
It also could have been to boost sales. Remember when reports came out that Paul supposedly was killed, and sales of Beatles albums skyrocketed!

I'm not sure what to believe anymore.
I wonder if 'Elvis left the building' in time.

I was thinking - how ironic that he ended up dying before George. Now this!
Does this mean that we can take the lock off the 'why we hate G.G,' topic?

Re: Ummm...Maybe \"Don\'t Believe What You Read\" is a good motto...
I think it is safe to say that although GG was not loved among the Beatle literati, nobody wished ill upon him nor an early demise.
I don't know if he did this for a publicity stunt, but if he did, he has certainly stooped lower than low and such a caper does not reflect well on him.
Given the high level of feeling and repeat threads on this literary , I think we can close the books on GG for now.
