Re: sightseeing
Well joe I probably couldn't live further from England if I tried but I know that there are fantastic places to visit because I spent several months living in London. Virtually everywhere you go is Beatle related and there are heaps of tours and walks that you can go on with tour guides. I loved doing those. You get to go to places like the station from AHDN (Marylebone), Abbey Road, the offices where Ringo and Paul married, Savile Row, the Montague Sq flat....various other places that will get you all excited and make you reach for your camera. Also when you are just walking around the city and you see a certain place, it has significance. Whenever I walked through Picadilly Circus I always thought of that footage from the premiere of AHDN. I loved taking myself on my own little tours like that! Even now I still do it - I was reading in the Anthology book about how George discovered where to buy Beatle boots on Charing Cross Rd - that is the street where I lived for three months so I got all sentimental.
And as for Liverpool...well don't even get me started on the sights there! I realise that I rant and rave about it far too much in here so for now I won't say a word!

Re: sightseeing
Hey Joe (great song), check out the "Beatle Places" category on the main links page. There are a few places there that give specific Beatles tours.

Did you take off your shoes when crossing the street?

I was planning on doing that when I crossed it but I went in the middle of the brutal English winter so my little shoes stayed firmly in place. Also, the people on the tour already thought I was very, very weird as it was. I got a couple of photos taken of myself strutting accross the street though so that did me fine!!

You know, this may sound very stupid, but I did that on a small street in my city. We (me and my three best friends) took a picture (I was supposed to be John ) crossing the street, and one of them took off his shoes and started smoking. We did that because it was our last year at school together, but it didn't work out well because another friend didn't take the picture right, and our feet can't be seen...
Oh, and BTW, my biggest dream in life is crossing the *actual* Abbey Road zebra cross, with or without shoes.

Re: sightseeing
Darkhorse, that is a funny story. I must do the Abbey Road thing myself once. I am in London quite often but never seem to take the time for it. I am there again within 2 weeks, so maybe I can make some time.
I won't start smoking after taking my shoes off I hope.

You're lucky to be there, FPSHOT. But you shouldn't take off your shoes, I think. You should cross the street with a long beard, long hair and blue jeans.

Make up your mind, is it a road or a street?

Re: sightseeing
It would be fun to remake the Abbey Road crossing the problem is getting three chums to do it with me. I only know one person who would go with me to England with a main purpose to get my own version of that photo and visit places of Beatlishness throughout the country.

Re: sightseeing
You can always do that in your own country, like me. I also reproduced the cover of "Please Please Me" in a picture I took with my three friends... That resulted a lot better than the "Abbey Road" one.
Although I know you will find some Beatle fans that will be pleased to join you in a trip like that...

Well, I'm going this summer, and I'm bringing a friend. That makes us four to walk across, and she can take the photo! We're set!!

So when are you going Joe? I know you'll have a splendid time!!!! I'm making plans but when they will come about is a mystery.
To be there would be so surreal.
