It sounds like you care about keeping yourself fashionable and groomed. Good on you!

I actually saw some of these English Laundry John shirts in person at TJ Maxx. Someone had it in their cart and all I saw was John's signature on the bottom part...not a bad shirt!

I love this look. I'll probably be incorporating this into my fall wardrobe at some point, believe it.

http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Sh...6/product.html

still think you should check out this shirt scruffie......it's neat.

it runs small so it may fit you as like a shirt jac over a tee. it's cool.

it has the little john self portrait near the bottom hem as well as the words to working class hero...add a few peace signs and it looks sharp imho.

remember it is small so order one size larger if you get it for your hubby.

just 21.50 today.

i got this one and a plaid one called the cavern....funny that they are the same size and this one fits kind of tight as compared to the other.

finally found a couple of others that were a size larger , hoping they fit better.

have to keep checking back with them as you never know if the stock is over or over&out!?!?

POLKA DOTS

Oh John...

I had to stick this in because John was a huge pattern freak, and polka dots looked fantastic on him (see above). As you all know, I am a follower of high fashion. I dig it, OK? But I am an even BIGGER fan of personal style, and John's personal style was effortless. He loved patterns and colors and accessories, but he could look equally as cool and amazing in a dark suit and wayfarers. It was his confident presentation. So even though some people (my husband) think polka dots are not cool on men, even he has to admit John Lennon could work them.

I thought I would reference polka dots because Stella McCartney has used them extensively in her new line, and well, what better way to give a Beatle cred than a Beatles offspring stealing a little of the juice? Ok, ok, John did not INVENT polka dots, but it's still a nice little nod.

So low and behold Stella McCartney's Fall 2011 polka dot extravaganza, or what I like to call A Silent Nod To John (in a sort of sexy female kind of way):

And random polka dots on the catwalk:

And Apple Scruff's brand new polka dot blouse from Free People!!!

^ Love it! I love polka dots, usually medium-sized ones... I have a knee-length white-on-black skirt that I must have purchased in 1993 that I still wear to work, plus a vintage-looking red polka dot dress that I wear all the time!

John had a knack of adding one major tweak to his suits that converted them from conventional to cool (though his suits themselves were rarely conventional, especially after 1964). Sometimes it was patterns, sometimes it was bright colors, sometimes it was the shoes. Classically cool our John...

Default Johnny the fashion KING in the news again!!!

Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...=feeds-newsxml

Coming round again! John Lennon's geeky specs back in vogue as Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Fearne Cotton and Beyonce adopt the trend

by Deborah Arthurs

They say what goes around, comes around. And never was this old adage more relevant than in the fickle world of fashion.
For now, while the younger generation is busying 'discovering' the styles of the Nineties (they're frankly quite welcome to them), the more mature fashion crowd is turning to the Swinging Sixties for inspiration.
When John Lennon made circular specs his own back in the Sixties and Seventies, he could hardly have pictured today's crop of celebrities making the look their own.

But that is just what they are doing. Gone are the forgiving, oversized sunglasses stars have hidden dark circles and hangovers behind for the past five years, to be replaced with the infintely less forgiving round spectacles.
Never one to shy away from a less-than-flattering trend, Lady Gaga has been one of the most dedicated recent devotees to the round spec, wearing them in myriad guises on almost all her recent outings.

Fellow geek chic trendsetter Fearne Cotton has jumped on the Beatle bandwagon, finishing off her eclectic outfits with a tortoiseshell and a black pair.
And it's not just the more experimental fashionistas who have embraced the trend.
Sightings of Beyonce, Kate Moss and Katie Holmes wearing round sunglasses prove the look has truly gained a foothold.

and the MAN himself

Of all the Beatles, John really did the '70s the best. So many different looks... and he usually wasn't just doing his take on what was trendy at the time. He used so many different styles to make a style that was all his own (and Sean has definitely continued in that tradition... maybe even taking it to another level). The '70s were very hit-or-miss fashion-wise. There were some pretty scary trends... or at least some that, if not rocked properly, could go horrifically wrong. John had a fail or two... but that's about it. He was almost always, as Scruffie would say, flawless in his '70s fashion.

Love this English rocker version of Johnny Cash's man in black:

The black suit, the silk shirt, the ornate belt, his shades, his hair...he was going for a definite "cool" 70's look here and he scored. I have to say, he looks very healthy and happy in this picture as well. That guy he's with sure knew how to jazz up those pants.

Default John channeling OSCAR WILDE

As a tip of the hat to our special wildewoman, I thought I would bring up a true fashion icon of his day and age and John's nod to him.

Velvet suits, vivid color, exquisite tailoring, class, canes, and so much charisma, Oscar Wilde was a literary GAINT whose plays, books, other writings, and inimitable musings have left an indelible mark in the world of literature. And his own very vibrant and fascinating life is still a thing of wonder and speculation. John was a huge fan. I'm sure wildewoman can fill us in on all the other details and whatnot, but here are a few photos I found of Oscar:

The man had definite style and charm in numbers, much like our John. And even though I almost want to say Sean Lennon has taken the Oscar Wilde look even further than John did, this is JOHN'S fashion thread and we'll get to Sean on another day!

John doing Wilde:

velvet suit with breathtaking shirt/bow tie

well-tailored suit, walking cane

successful, classic, well-loved book

a dramatic jacket

this entire look

And the perfect cape/hat combo
