Default Beatles Rock Band tops the US Sales Charts

Saling The World: The Beatles: Rock Band Leads Multiplatform Charts
by Danny Cowan

September 11, 2009

This week's charts, with data taken from September 10th, 2009, find The Beatles: Rock Band leading software sales across multiple platforms in the United States, while Love Plus and Tomodachi Collection remain big sellers in Japan.

Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on,, and, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows:

Nintendo Wii
North America: 1. The Beatles: Rock Band (MTV Games), 2. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 3. The House of the Dead: Overkill (Sega), 4. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 5. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo).

Japan: 1. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 2. Monster Hunter 3 Classic Controller Bundle (Capcom), 3. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 4. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 5. EA Sports Active (EA Sports).

UK: 1. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. The Beatles: Rock Band (EA Games), 5. Guitar Hero 5 (Activision).

After spending a month and a half and the top of the Wii sales charts in North America, Wii Sports Resort is finally dethroned this week by Harmonix's premiering band simulation title The Beatles: Rock Band.

The instrument peripheral-bundled Special Value Edition of The Beatles: Rock Band also sees big sales numbers in its U.S. debut week, while a recent "Deal of the Day" price drop at Amazon puts Sega's The House of the Dead: Overkill ahead of Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii in the domestic sales rankings.
I get by with a little help from my friends.
