It was very odd. It was a bit Monty Pythonish, but not in a good way

'The life of brian', and 'the search for the holy grail' were both good. But, the Monty Python gang basically ripped off the Goons - who were class.

MMT is a curiosity. Even the intense Beatle fan would have to be very much in the mood to sit through the entire film.
I am going to give it another try. It's been years but I tried twice and fell asleep both times.

I saw the whole thing once, but it was not their best movie, the album was good, but not for a movie. For a good one you have to go with Help.

The movie is what it was suppose to be,a T.V. special. The black and white BBC showed it first. It FLOPPED.The color version never was broadcast. It was then released as a collage circuit movie. It did quite well.
I think The Beatles were very lost and confused as entertainers without Brian.

It's just a moving poster, with dialogue.
If you don't like it, stop looking at it.

You won't see anything good. A big black bar with the word, 'Censored' appears when anything even remotely naughty is flashed! I should know, I've got freeze frame capabilities.

Since it was originally made for BBC TV, the censors would still have the naughty parts edited out. Cable TV is a whole different story.

No, that's not what I meant. MMT was a made-for-TV movie and BBC was the channel that aired it.

NBC?

If the film was made for todays standards then it would get an 18 certificate! Then everyone would love it!

In America, it would have a rating of PG-13.

It was always supposed to be experimental, (with the emphasis on the mental!) Paul was i his avant gard phase, and wanted to do something that was unstructured. Remember that Paul was always the one who worked to a tight structure, so this was a bit off the beaten track for him, plus the others were all 'happy' on something or other in the jazz herbal range at the time. The BBC had no idea what to expect, and put this on when most of the country were expecting something akin to the Queens speech! I say well done for waking everyone up so nuttily!

I still think it is wonderful, and I grew up on the Goons, who did indeed inspire Monty Python, as did John Lennon. It is one of the few movies that makes me feel as if I had been at the herbals!!!!!

and in the end........
Love & Hugs.
