My two favorite Beatles! What a wonderful photo, each Fab (Paul & George) as adorable as his bandmate.

I don't know why I held off so long, but I finally watched the whole doc. tonight, after having taped it back in early Oct. when it first came on...I was kind of saving it I guess.
I was really affected by it, the second half did not disappoint me. Yes, some legal troubles, etc. were left out, but it wasn't meant to be a gossipy expose as far as I know, just the basic story of his life for people who enjoyed his music, or for people who hadn't yet caught on to George and now will enjoy his music. I have read some rotten reviews and don't get that at all...I was really touched by the whole thing and found myself laughing more than once and also crying more than once. Whatever else, George can stir powerful emotions...I know I will watch it again and again...

One thing about George, considering he was often referred to as the "quiet" one, or the one who changed the most, or the "weird" Beatle, etc...he sure seems to have had the most solid and long-lasting friendships with many people in various occupations, of all of the Beatles, as best as we can tell. For all the rumors of his "hibernation" at FP, etc...he was always doing things, always involved in projects with friends, always seemed to be reaching out and maintaining contact with those he loved. In many ways, he seems to have been the most social Beatle, as far as making and keeping friends anyway.

George's sister Lou said George was not the "Quiet Beatle." That, said Lou, was a nickname bestowed upon him when the Beatles came to America. George had strep and talking was painful for him. Lou, as we know watched George like a little falcon until his throat healed.

Tom Petty said that George wasn't a quiet Wilbury either - he [George] just did not demand to be heard.

I can't WAIT for Lou's memoirs to come out!

Nice website about George's charity work with UNICEF and other celebrities too. Very informative.

Being of Mexican descent, unless she converted as an adult, maybe Olivia was raised Catholic too, since that is the dominant religion in the Latin culture. That may be the reason for so many statues on the property too. I recall seeing the movie, Nuns On The Run, it was OK. I think Friar Park was a monastery before he bought it. I think most of the Beatles were raised Catholic, Paul even compoosed some classical music with Latin verses in the early 90's. I use to wear religious medals of St. Michael as a kid on my clothes.

George was baptized in the Catholic church in March of 1943. Louise was Catholic and maintained that George was too, even after he has long become a household name.

George always had his Catholic roots remain a part of him. He had a lovely statue of the Blessed Mother on his property.

I recall seeing George on a magazine cover in a praying posture , I'm not sure he had a rosary. This was a few years before he became ill. I think Eric Idol may have been raised Catholic too, I recall he made a saucy comment about nuns on the Arsenio Hall show while promoting the movie years ago.

George did pose for a Rolling stone photographer in a praying position. I saw it in a book of photos

I was given the DVD for Christmas (thank you wonderful hubby!!) and I must say I loved every minute of it. Could have done with a bit more George solo years and who didn't love those demin overalls during the 70's??!!
Really enjoyed seeing Patti too.

Ringo almost had me in tears when he was describing the last time he saw George and had to leave as his daughter was having surgery and George said "Do you want me to come with you."
Ringo wipes his eyes and says "This is like Barbara ******* Walters!!!"

Awwww!!!!

NOw that I finally own the movie on DVD and have watched the first part at least a 2nd time, I can say that I'm catching little things I didn't catch the first time around...such as the opening sequence with the flowers and how the voice (which I believe is one of George's Krishna devote friends who did that video) is talking about George's death.

Did you guys catch the message on George's fb page from Dhani thanking us for making the dvd number one?

Loved it! Hated Ringo's toupee. That was kinda disturbing to see. I thought he was above all that. Aside from the bad rug, I give the documentary TWO thumbs up! :D

I commented I didn't like Ringo's hair but my girlfriend loved it so that was the end of that.

I noticed a few scenes that flipped by me the first time. One, George and paul are looking at old pictures of Girls they knew back in Liverpool. George makes a comment about the girls being all ugly and Paul joking how the stocking top still looks nice even though George has moved up in the world.

My fav is still the dhani scenes. Best parts of the film for it's warmth and touching.

I didn't like the rug either. Damn shame our moptop has become a croptop.

It's a film well worth watching.

I nearly cried when Olivia started talking about the stabbing. She really went into detail about it, which is kind of surprising.

Is Paul's hair real? I know the color is not...but not sure that can be his hair, at this age...
