I'd like to put on my ass kicking shoes for people like this. I'd also like to aim a pie at Emily Perl Kingsley who wrote "Welcome to Holland" after she became the mother of a son with Down Syndrome. "Welcome to Holland" carries the subtext of thanking one's lucky stars their kid(s) don't have special needs or that they themselves dodged that bullet. "Welcome to Holland" has riled many a parent of kid/s with special needs and people who have special needs. It's just condescending.
