Re: Paul Song of the Day
Good choice, Lynner! I love "This One"....it's cute and bouncy and fun to listen to, but really pay attention to the lyrics sometime. They're SO good, especially during the bridge. As someone who has missed a lot of opportunities waiting for the timing to be "just right", I can really relate!

I like This One, actually it was on my car CD just when I got out yesterday evening. And yes, the badge is good too.

Love the tambura (sitar) on the intro... and the funky ending that comes out of nowhere !

Re: Paul Song of the Day
This One
This one, this one, this one, this one.
Did I ever take you in my arms, look you in the eye, tell you that I do?
Did I ever open up my heart and let you look inside?
If I never did it, I was only waiting for a better moment that didn't come.
There never could be a better moment than this one, this one.
This swan is gliding above the ocean, a god is riding upon his back.
I'll calm the water and brighten the rainbow, fade this swan to black.
Did I ever touch you on the cheek, say that you were mine, thank you for the smile?
Did I ever knock upon your door and try to get inside?
If I never did it, I was only waiting for a better moment that didn't come.
There never could be a better moment than this one, this one.
This swan is gliding above the ocean, a god is riding upon his back.
I'll calm the water and brighten the rainbow, fade this swan to black.
What opportunities did we allow to flow by,
Feeling like the timing wasn't quite right?
What kind of magic might have worked if we had stayed calm, couldn't I have given you a better life?
Did you ever take me in your arms, look me in the eye, tell me that you do?
Did I ever open up my heart, let you look inside?
If I never did it, I was only waiting for a better moment that didn't come.
There never could be a better moment than this one, this one.
This swan is gliding above the ocean, a god is riding upon his back.
I'll calm the water and brighten the rainbow, fade this swan to black.
Swan is gliding, oh
God is riding, oh
Calm the water (calm the water)
Brighten the rainbow.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
A good song of Paul's today I think would be:
"Pipes of Peace"
It's my favorite of Paul's songs, it's a really strong song, so wonderful, I love it.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
Pipes Of Peace
I light a candle to our love
In love our problems disappear,
But all in all we soon discover
That one and one is all we long to hear.
All 'round the world,
Little children being born to the world.
Got to give them all we can till the war is won
Then will the work be done.
Help them to learn
Songs of joy instead of burn, baby, burn.
Let us show them how to play the pipes of peace,
Play the pipes of peace.
Help me to learn
Songs of joy instead of burn, baby, burn.
Won't you show me to play the pipes of peace?
Play the pipes of peace.
What do you say (do you say)?
Will the human race be run in a day (in a day)?
Or will someone save this planet we're playing on?
Is it the only one?
What are we going to do?
Help them to see
That the people here are like you and me.
Let us show them how to play the pipes of peace,
Play the pipes of peace, ooh.
I light a candle to our love
In love our problems disappear,
But all in all we soon discover,
That one and one is all we long to hear.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
For today's song, let's focus on "C-Moon". A nice like number that really doesn't get enough attention.
C Moon
Check, mm, check, mm, check it out,
Mm hm, uh huh, mm hm.
Was that the intro? I should have been here?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
C moon, C moon, C moon is she.
C moon, C moon, C moon to me.
How come no one older than me ever seems to understand the things I wanna to do, oh?
It will be L7 and I'd never get to heaven if I filled my head with gloom, oh.
What's it all to you?
C moon, C moon, C moon is she, oh.
C moon, C moon, C moon to me.
Bobby lived with Patty but they never told her daddy what their love was all about, oh.
She could tell her lover that he thought, but she never was the type to let it out, oh.
What's it all about?
C moon, C moon, oh, C moon are we.
I said, C moon, C moon, C moon are we.
How come no one older than me ever seems to understand the things I wanna to do, oh?
It will be L7 and I'll never get to heaven if I fill my head with gloom, oh.
What's it all to you?
C moon, C moon, C moon is she, oh.
C moon, C moon, C moon to me.
Bobby lived with Patty but they never told her daddy what their love was all about, oh.
She could tell her lover that he thought, but she never wanted to let it out, oh.
What's it all about?
C moon, C moon, yeah, C moon are we.
C moon, C moon, C moon are we.
What's it all about?
C moon, C moon, C moon are we.
Oh ooh, oh yeah, yeah, C moon are we.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
I like that song. I was just listening to it in the car on my way home from errands, actually. It was also nice to see Paul sing it in concert last year.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
I like this song! It seemed that on the first leg of the tour last year, I was one of the only fans singing along with this one.
I think the piano part is so bouncy!

Re: Paul Song of the Day
Here's one of my favorites from Paul's time with Wings. You could say this song was some kind of sequel to the Beatles' "We Can Work It Out".
With A Little Luck
With a little luck, we can help it out,
We can make this whole damn thing work out.
With a little love, we can lay it down,
Can't you feel the town exploding?
There is no end to what we can do together. (together, ooh)
There is no end. (there is no end, there is no end, oooh)
The willow turns his back on inclement weather,
And if he can do it, we can do it,
Just me and you.
And a little luck, we can clear it up,
We can bring it in for a landing.
With a little luck, we can turn it on,
There can be no misunderstanding.
There is no end to what we can do together. (together, ooh)
There is no end. (there is no end, there is no end, oooh)
The willow turns his back on inclement weather,
We can do it, just me and you.
With a little push, we can set it off,
We can send it rocketing skywards.
With a little love, we could shake it up,
Don't you feel the comet exploding?
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)
With a little luck, we can help it out,
We can make this whole damn thing work out.
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)
With a little love, we can lay it down,
Can't you feel the town exploding?
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)
With a little push, baby, we can set it off,
Send it rocketing skywards.
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)
With a little love, we could shake it up, oh yeah.
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)
With a little luck, we can help it out,
We can make this whole damn thing work out.
With a little love, we can lay it down,
Can't you feel the town exploding?
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)
With a little push, we can set it off,
We can send it rocketing skywards.
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)
With a little love, we could shake it up,
Don't you feel the comet exploding, whoa oh?
(With a little luck, with a little luck, with a little luck, a little luck, a little luck)

Re: Paul Song of the Day
Good song, but kind of a cheesy video. Since kat posted this late yesterday, I think it should still be the song of the day for today.
Thanks again for posting lyrics for us all, kat!
You're a peach!

Re: Paul Song of the Day
Definitely one of my least favorite McCartney songs. I don't hate it or anything, but to my mind, it's one of those kind of cheesy songs that everyone associates with Paul and then they think ALL of his output is lightweight, bouncy, goofy pop, which is certainly not the case.
I've never been a great fan of most of Paul's hits though. I find the tracks with a little less mass market appeal far more pleasing to me personally. But that's just me and eccentric is what I do.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
I totally agree with you Rellevart. I'm not a big fan of a lot of Paul's hit songs either.
I find that when Paul's not thinking of what's going to constitute a hit and writes strictly from inspiration or his heart his songs are much better.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
Short song, indeed. Paul wrote this song while the Beatles were in India.
Junk
Motor cars, handle bars,
Bicycles for two,
Broken hearted jubilee.
Parachutes, army boots,
Sleeping bags for two,
Sentimental jamboree.
"Buy, buy"
Says the sign in the shop window.
"Why, why"
Says the junk in the yard.
Da di ya da da da da di ya,
Da di ya da da,
Da da da da da da da.
Candlesticks, building bricks,
Something old and new,
Memories for you and me.
"Buy, buy"
Says the sign in the shop window.
"Why, why"
Says the junk in the yard.
Daaaa.

Re: Paul Song of the Day
My Paul Song of the Day is "Junk".
It's so sweet and simple; I love it
It's very short though so I have to put it on repeat in order to get my fill.
