This would be a good introduction to all of you Beatles fans here, like myself.
Originally posted on the BeatGear Cavern Forum, and garnering a lot of success there, I would like to introduce to one and all
"The Truly Complete Beatles Songbook for Guitar, Volumes One and Two."
The journey for this project started a long time ago, during my college days, but only came to fruition this 2015. I couldn't find an accurate Beatles songbook in the market, and believe me, I've searched. So I decided to make my own, with the hope of putting them out and into the hands of every Beatles fan the world over.
As is specified on the Introductory Letter in my books, most, if not all, of the Beatles songbooks in the market are either lacking, in the wrong keys, and filled with so many errors. I have religiously transcribed all their songs with accuracy in mind. I have had some of my friends, some from BGC, to test the books and have so far received very favourable, if not excellent, comments. Any errors they find, they tell me and I immediately edit and update the books.
My publisher, Cadence Books, has taken the full responsibility of settling any copyright/licensure issues (I have no business knowledge or savvy to handle this), and they have received both written and oral nods to go ahead and put them up for public sale, even with a number of pending ones. My IT partner is currently working on converting it into an App for consideration by iTunes, but I've had some customers who didn't want to wait for the App to come out and would settle for the active PDF document instead, as it is already usable in Adobe Reader (for Mac, PC, and any tablet containing Adobe Reader) and Preview (for Mac). I wanted to wait for the App to come out and be approved by iTunes before actually introducing the books, but having already sold a few of the PDF version necessitates that I open it up for public scrutiny and sale.
I am confident that these are the only books of its kind. The songs are arranged chronologically by LP (or CD, if that's what you have) [BRAND NEW UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST!!!], in the correct key as per final recording, with accurate and illustrated chords, period-correct photographs, and song-by-song trivia notes. For the 300 or so songs, every detail has been painstakingly researched, tried, tested, and re-tested for accuracy. For sure there will be some errors that might have been overlooked or missed, and when notified we will edit and update those accordingly, but for the most part we can still claim that there is nothing of this kind in the market, then or today.
The prices set by my publisher are:
CA$43 (about US$33) for Volume One (Please Please Me to Past Masters)
CA$34 (about US$26) for Volume Two (Anthology series to Live On BBC 2 plus some solo Beatles)
All payable by PayPal
Here are a few samplers for those of you who might be interested.
One very appreciative user, Gene Feldman, known in BGC as Urban Kayaker, have this to say about the books (quoted with permission):
david,
just downloaded both books without any problem and they look FANTASTIC! the option of being able to click on the table of contents to go directly to any song and then to click on the T to return is such a great convenience. i can't wait to get home tonight to start using the book. the format of having one song per page is so helpful and the addition of song-appropriate photographs and where needed, chord diagrams makes this a truly wonderful resource. i will no doubt have more thoughts as i go through the books in detail but thanks again and with my very best regards,
gene
david,
i would be more than happy for you to quote anything that i have said about the books in both places. while i absolutely love having the electronic versions and the convenience of point and jump to the songs that adobe allows and will most definitely use them that way most of the time, i also printed out both books and put them in binders so that i can lay them out in front of me. i also split book one into two parts to reduce the total number of pages in each one.
thanks again and i will certainly pass along any comments, corrections or additional thoughts as i start going through these true labours of love.
regards,
gene
I have had other BGC members try them while the books were still in their infancy stage, and have had nothing but praises. I sincerely hope some of you here will want to try the books. You will not be disappointed, that is a guarantee.
