i see a lot of these posts are 1 1/2-5 yrs. old. is all this info pretty much still valid?
never used it but i'm interested.

Demonoid has been shut down, I recommend the pirate bay, make sure you have good virus protection however because people like to spread on those sites.

I would be sooo worried about Torrents with a PC. Guarantee you will get viruses. You don't get them with a Mac.
