The American CD Set
Hi. Couldn't find anything here about this set--maybe missed it somewhere. Is there a definitive answer whether this is just the 09.09.09 stuff with the soundtracks? That would suck.

Unique U.S. mixes will be retained; otherwise it's the 09.09.09 stuff. No word on whether those will at least be EQ'd to give them some of the reverb that defined the US versions.

Perhaps the EQ will be there, besides the loathing of sequencing the tracks I wonder why Lennon did not like these and wonder if Paul has commented on these releases .... Hey Jude is the one I'll buy I like the mono box too much!

It's mind-boggling how their catalog is treated. I lost all faith in any decent authentic reproduction after Capitol released the box sets and the so-called Mono were nothing but fold-downs on the original release. For shame. It's insulting as a fan to be treated like a no-nothing sheep who will buy into any sh*t they are shoveling. The American releases should be just that--true to the originals, warts, duophonic and all..

It's too bad they didn't release this box instead of the 2 previously released Capitol sets. Now if you want the box you will have to buy 8 albums over again. All the albums in the box will be released individually except Beatles Story for a limited amount of time.I would have just bought the single copies of the albums not in the 2 original boxes but then I wouldn't have Beatles Story so now I'll have to buy the box if I want everything and I still won't have everything because there is no Canadian box available that would have had "Twist And Shout" and "Long Tall Sally" which are similar albums to "Early Beatles" and "Second Album" respectively.

Yeah, Beatles Story is the only one I'm really interested in. I didn't grow up with these albums, and if they're not even presented accurately, what's the point? But I'm in no rush to get this box, so I'll wait until it inevitably goes on clearance.
It's kind of lame that this is the big release they're hyping, when the Bootleg Recordings are an under-the-radar iTunes download.

I am not sure what versions are being included here. If we get 2009 remastered versions of the songs I am not getting it at all.
Even if some unique U.S. versions are retained.
I was interested in at least buying the "Yestereday and today" one and maybe "A hard days night - soundtrack', but only if they have the original U.S. versions otherwise I don't see the point.
The iTunes thing is just a release to keep the copyright of these recordings. Otherwise I think it might not have been released at all.
Looks like a lot of it is BBC stuff which I already have. Pretty sure I already have the outtakes as well, certainly the demo's of "Bad to me" and "I'm in love".
With the lack of interest here on the forum for new releases like Paul's new album an the BBC volume 2 album, I hesitate to start a topic about new releases. Good at least to have some discusion now.

In the end it all comes down to what every individual is willing to pay for something.I personally couldn't care less what versions of the songs they use.I would prefer they not be the same versions as the Capitol box sets because I already have those but if it is I will still buy it.I have been waiting a long time for cd's of Hard Day's Night and Yesterday and Today and the other ones with the original covers.Beatles Story is like a dream come true.Sure I recreated all the Canadian and U.S. releases in my I Pod but it's not the same as having the cd's and the covers.A box set is always a special thing. And this box is a special thing to me.But that's just me.

On kind of a related tangent, I was given the head's up a week or so ago that the Japanese import of the Capitol Box of Vol. 1 was being sold on Amazon for $10.99 US new and sealed! Just got it yesterday, and the packaging is amazing. Even the CDs have plastic inner sleeves and the booklets are beautiful (even though the Japanese never did get a firm grasp of Rock and Roll parlance and the lyrics interpretations are way off sometimes). So I guess this is how I'll be spending New Years Eve. Just thought I'd brag a bit.. hehehehe...
