Very sad, MPL released a statement from Paul I'm sure most of you saw already... I would've loved to see Muhammad do a card trick.

Wow a lot of people associated with the Beatles are dying this year. Maurice White from Earth, Wind, and Fire, David Bowie, George Martin, Prince, and now Ali. NTM, Cilla Black and Cynthia passed last year. Although his antics got on your nerve sometimes. I did have deep respect for the legendary boxer, I heard he was a decent person. It was painful to see him suffering at various events. My prayers go to his family and friends, may he RIP. I think his funeral will be televised Friday. I saw on the news it will be public. I read on his IMDB page, he took up boxing as a kid, to beat up the bullies who stole his bike. Cute story. Wow how times have changed, sadly in todays world, the bullies face being shot!

Peanut, I agree that some of Ali's antics were annoying. Just for the record, butterflies do not, repeat do not float. I do admire Ali's anti-war stand and his refusal to register for the draft. I'm about as anti-war as you'll ever find and that is something I can totally support.
It was very sad to see Ali's health deteriorate and the fact that he suffered by his estimation some 29,000 blows to the head/brain.
I loved it when on February 18, 1964 Ali got to play with the Beatles. Sonny Liston missed out on the treat of a lifetime, but Ali wisely took advantage of some photo ops with the Fabs.

John had said something about "the loudmouth is going to lose," but after the encounter all of The Beatles' opinions about him had changed.
60 Minutes reran a story about him from 1996 the other night, and it mentioned that because of his religion, he thought it was wrong to deceive people, therefore, told everyone how he did all of his magic tricks, which i found incredibly sweet, I started weeping.

I have the highest hopes for Tommy. He is going to be a star."

I'll never going to understand why they took his titles away because he was a conscious objector. It's not as if he was some kind of average criminal. He finally got them back but only after he fought for them in the supreme court. That's freedom for ya!
