We-ell, she helped. Yoko certainly didn't do anything to Help them Come Together. It was Across The Universe with Paul, George and Ringo as far as she was concerned.

really???
geez, the guys played together for 12-13 years for J,P & G....R joining later..that is a long time for a Band in to stay together....girlfriends and spouses included.
I really think it all began to start fracturing after Brian's death.
there was a lot more to it all besides the "Yoko broke up the Beatles"..a lot more.
i read somewhere the doc on George that was on HBO gave a good insght into the break up...i don't know, have not watched it yet.
just my opinion, your mileage may vary. :)

If we're to be serious about this...
Many different aspects contributed to the breakup, I'm sure, but what I will say is that Yoko certainly wasn't an unifying factor! And why should she have been? She didn't benefit from The Beatles staying together. She wanted John to herself. She was very possessive of John, she's said so herself in interviews, as well as shown it in different ways, and I believe her. That they (George, Paul & Ringo) disliked her, probably more than she disliked them, was a contributing factor, naturally. Besides, it's in good, old-fashioned tradition that the new wife gets rid of the husband's old pals.

They broke up 'cause Yoko sat on an amp. That's a direct quote (FACT) from Paul McCartney.

Who can blame him? After all, it was a Fender Twin Reverb! Coming right after she spilled coke all over George's guitar solo, it was the proverbial last guitar pick!

Hey guys, it's been over 40 years, give Yoko a break. Maybe a lot of factors played in their breaking up.

Facts change because time passes?
Didn't I already say I don't think she's responsible? Not that she did anything to keep them together either. Anyway, lighten up, peanut! We're only half serious here.

It really was the perfect time and the perfect divorce. The greatest band ever eternally frozen in time with an absolutely flawless body of work. Perfection. No embarrassing reunion for an oldies tour. Or worse, a new album w the Beatles doing Temporary Secretary, Woman is the Nigger of the World, Dark Horse, and Ebony and Ivory w new member Billy Preston. The Eagles should have followed the Fabs lead.

Does anyone know if African American groups complained about John using the N word in his song?

He actually got support from black politicians--anyone who actually puts the song in proper context rather than going with the kneejerk "He said the n-word!" reaction has no reason to be offended because John was making a solid point. But the song barely caught on, partly due to the lyrics and partly because I don't think anyone was expecting a jazz-rock single from John Lennon in 1972.

Brian's death, John's divorce and blossoming drug habit are contributors. John seems to have lost interest in running the band after Brian died, so Paul took over causing resentment from John and George. But Paul had to do something or they would have broke up in 1967. Yoko gave John a needed love and an ally, the Beatles were secondary in his life.
