I enjoy the Flintstones and I get the Paleolithic themed spoofs and the send ups of then popular culture, e.g. Dripper the Seal as a spoof of Flipper, the Gruesomes as a parody of The Addams Family and The Munsters. Then there was Ann-Marocks, Stony Curtis, Rock Quarry and Gary Granite to name a few. I still love the 1965 Beatle spoof, the 4 Insects. Also in 1965 was the Beau Brummel(stones). Most were funny and clever. However, I just hated "Macyrocks" as that was a pee poor spoof of Macy's. I just hated the spoof Jackie Kennarock for Kennedy. That really irked the heck out of me.

I enjoy Hanna Barbera. They were formulaic. I confess that I think the Jetsons belong in the toilet. Like who would change their good family name for a space themed one? The space stuff got old fast and it wasn't nearly as funny, creative or clever as its Stone Age counterpart.

I missed the grammy Beatles tribute and it's really bugging me because apparently, I have missed a huge thing!

I did, too! I peeked into it, but was busy that evening so only saw about 2 minutes of it. I'm sure Dhani was amazing, and Paul and Ringo, but I imagine everyone else just made a mess of Beatles songs, lol.

You'd be surprised HC! I was stunned at some of the performances and I've been doing this Beatle thing for nearly all 50. Dave Grohl and Jeff Lynne on Hey Bulldog was fab. Dave Grohl's speech about the influence in his life was amazing. Great to see his beautiful young daughter now a Beatles fan too like her dad and his dad! Joe Walsh and Gary Clark Jr. on While My Guitar Gently Weeps was stunning. Keith Urban and John Meyer totally blew me away on Don't Let Me Down. The Eurythmics doing Fool on The Hill was nice to see too. Oh, and Imagine Dragons did a killer version of acoustic Revolution! Dhani, Jeff and Joe Walsh doing Something was enough to bring tears to the eyes. Just to see Paul and Ringo's (plus the rest of the FAB family Sean, Yoko, Olivia) reactions is great.
Not every one was a winner ie Pharell Williams doing Here Comes The Sun wasn't so great but he had Brad Paisley playing guitar and it's great to see the influence stretch it's bounds to country too. Katy Perry and Yesterday.... well nuff said about that.
It's on again Wednesday night at 8:30 for a special encore presentation. A second opportunity. I think you and anyone else should really see the heartfelt tributes that were given to our guys. Give it a chance and you'll be glad you did. Plus, Ringo and Paul were great seperate and together!

Luckily, I could watch it anyway! Thanks to this link here

@bobdude you forgot one good thing: Ed Sheeran singing "In My Life" I quite liked his version :)

bobdude, you've convinced me! I've commandeered the tv for this evening and plan to watch! (I think it was partly the name Katy Perry which scared me off in the first place, haha)

Paul and Ringo rocked! Most of the covers were good, a few not so much. George left his stamp on Dhani, but Dhani did not inherit Harold or George's lush wavy hair. Sean looks like John from Hey, Jude from the hirsute appearance to the hat. Yoko, Nancy, Olivia and Barbara looked mah-velous, absolutely mah-velous! There were short Beatle bios of each Fab and adorable infant and boyhood pictures of each Beatle.

HC, I don't like Katy Perry either and I'm sick of "Roar." I hear that damn song at work every day and am quite sick of it.

Oh, this is the irritants thread!

On a related note, I just don't like "Freedom" by Paul. Now I love Paul about as much as any rabid, inveterate Beatlemaniac can. I've been a Beatle fan since I was fender high to a coooooool Ford Falcon, but I don't like "I'm Down" and I just can't abide "Freedom." While Paul's heart was in the right place in the aftermath of 9/11, I think "Freedom" is not reflective of Paul's talents. It impresses me as a slapdash piece that is again, not commensurate with his talents. "Freedom" is the equivalent to an honor student turning in an F composition hastily written after midnight the night before it was due.

I can't stand and never liked "Wrack My Brain."

Sorry Bangs, I was trying to lighten up the irritant thread! No harm intended! LOL! Back to being annoyed and throwing Flaming Pies for you, luv!
See Young Fab4 fan, you did watch it and you saw something that you enjoyed! His version of In My Life was straight forward and well done.
Double the pressure when you're playing to Paul and Ringo the songs that they helped create!
I watched as much as I could again tonight and I'm glad I have a DVR!

It was wonderful and most of the covers were good.

I am glad Paul didn't include "Freedom" in his song list the 3 times I saw my favorite Beatle in concert.

Awesome. I'm so glad I watched it. It was great seeing/hearing Dhani. Paul and Ringo were delightful to watch as they listened. And the little Letterman interviews in between were so nice. They went back and got the original girls in the audience! haha

Dave Grohl and Jeff Lynne on Hey Bulldog- great guitar work. And yeah Grohl's speech was so sweet. His daughter's adorable! Oh my gosh.... Yoko was so cool doing her dancing. And Sean... so glad to see him, too. I really enjoyed Pharell Williams and Here Comes the Sun. He showed the spirit of the song. He kept it simple and pure, and his approach was gentle-hearted. Loved that. Loved his hat and wondered if he was giving tribute to George who wore that big hat too on the 74 tour (when he wore the cowboy chaps too).

Katy Perry made me want to jump off a bridge.

the local comic book store is going to close in a few months. they didn't just sell comic books but also board games and figerings. i had bought my first living dead doll there. the owner is just in to poor of health. this closing may also bring an end to D&D on Wednesdays

Bob, I am glad you lightened the mood and I was doing the same thing when I jokingly said that this is the irritants thread. Your posts brought a smile to my face.

You and HC gave good write ups of the splendid time that was guaranteed for all and I agree with you both. :)

I can't stand Katy Perry either and I'm sick of "Roar," with Survivor inspired lyrics. While "Eye if the Tiger" was a good song and one of the more palatable ones from 1982, Katy Perry's thinly cribbed "Roar" belongs in the toilet. Add to it I don't like Miley Cyrus at all and I'm sick of "Wrecking Ball." I don't care how many balls she's wrecked , I'd still rather hear the atrocious refrains of a blender, siren, vacuum cleaner and whistle than either one of those faux chanteuses!

Come to Links where even the irritants are non-irritating!

Thanks for the link, Bob. I watched it too. Great show! And for once got to see an US TV exclusive as more often than I can count these videos have a 'not available in your area' restriction. Guess entertainment broadcasts must be a threat to national security!

I'm glad I was able to get a few more to watch it. It was 9th in the Neilsen rating this past week. Watched by somewhere between 14 and 14 and a half million homes. Not quite 73 million but still by today's standards quite good.
I'd imagine we'll be seeing this on Blu-ray with all the extra bits 'not seen on the broadcast' within a quick turn around time. Also, remastered for iTunes exclusively. I thought the best things in life were free? Apparently not Beatles music! LOL!
