Great news.
There is a lot of traffic the past week in the Social Media like Myspace, Twitter and Facebook from and about thenewno2 working on a new album.

Los Angeles – TheNewNo2

I’m currently in sunny Los Angeles recording bass for the next newno2 album. The album is being produced by Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, No Doubt etc) at his home in W.Hollywood. It’s the first time since the Wolfmother U.S. support tour that we’ve all been together in the same room and it feels good to be back!
Will post pictures soon.

I've been following them on FB as I love the band. I got to see them on their Black Pearl tour and feel totally blessed. I thought they sounded great but they claim they thought they didn't that night. I disagree but then I was drinking a lot.
Their cryptic clues on FB have been a lot of fun. We were hoping for an April Fool's prank but alas there was none.
They have new videos on their webpage for premium members though there have been a few technical difficulties with that, it's been great. Two are posted so far and more to come! The videos have been entertaining and helping me relive that tour which I followed on an unofficial twos site (more fun then the official one at times).

I am so excited about the new album! I'm not familiar with Alain Johannes, but checked him out a little on Tube and can see him fitting into thenewno2 sound. Can't wait for them to play LA again, hopefully some free outdoor shows! :)

Yes, it has been nice seeing some stirrings in the Twos' camp recently. 'D' was working on some parts of the album as far back as last Summer, but the recent realization that they are having Alain produce them is interesting.
I think the next album will sound quite different, and dare i say more 'marketable'. Not slating their previous efforts at all, just feeling this next album will be showing some smoother edges and seeing it go even further then the previous one ( which was quite impressive).
Looking forward to whatever is ahead...and here's looking forward to seeing the Twos' finally hit VINYL!
A Tour is pretty much a certainty i would think....once the album is released and the promotional onslaught has begun ( methinks it began already!)

Neato! I'll be interested to hear what they come up with! (and maybe they'll do the rounds on late night TV again? )

I am sure they will make the rounds Lennonluvr9.
Just guessing, but perhaps it will play out as such....
A song revealed as a 'teaser' via their pages/website
Video clip to above mentioned 'teaser'
Album title revealed, possible track list peek
Pre-sale info, and special offer(s) ( CD/Download/Vinyl/More )
Album release...promotional onslaught...
Lollapalooza again?
Tour announced, perhaps as headliners?
Promotional onslaught insures related to tour ( yay!)
Live Chats return to their officail website?
Tour happens....all the world is right again...
Post-Tour glow....time to reflect..and give thanks.

Let's hope that when they put up videos, I can see them not choppy, and that we find out about the chats before they happen.

Yeah, the chats are missed! I think Dhani likes to do them spur of the moment. Those who happen to wander by get a surprise treat. This happened a few times last Summer, and i have to admit it was rather exciting. Hardly anyone was online, as it was a awkward time for anyone not living on the East Coast of the US.
Another nice thing about the non-announced live chats is their is no crazy chaos going on. The announced chats were fun, but it was insane! Way too many nutters going crazy trying to get their attention. There were times when it was obvious it was irritating to D and certainly for some of the more dedicated serious fans ( read: non-foamers). The non-announced ones are actually better, as it is more intimate and calm.
It would not surprise me if they enjoy it more that way, too.
I will admit though, it is a drag when it would happen and you did not know about it, or were not around that night/day!

We have a title of the new album;
The Fear of Missing Out, which Dhani refers to as FOMO.
FOMO? "Everything in life boils down to FOMO. It's what makes you go to a party when you're tired. It's behind broken relationships. And war. And I have FOMO about music. I like so many disparate types of music, so by understanding FOMO I can bring whoever I want to an album. Why not put it all together and see what happens?"

Yeah, i saw this earlier today too.
Wow..they actually DID go with that title then! It was hinted at a month or so ago via the Bands Facebook page...in Twos tradition. A lot of people guessed it and were asking if it was the title but only now i see they were indeed correct in their guesses.
Cool. Nice things are being said about the track currantly being sold.
Way to go D!

and I just saw that Esquire shoot in my homecity of Detroit! I know those places! (but I would take them to places where the life force flows, not those hipster areas. snobberry killed this city as much as anything else did). apparantly the new song is up for sale on i-tunes.

Heh...yeah that Esquire shoot....
Nice photos, but is it not a paradox of sorts being shown skatebording around one of the rougher edged cities wearing a $5000+ dress suit? I know it is a photo shoot and all...but i had to kind of smurk....

Good points. There's also FOTP. And FOMU. Fear of Taking Part. Fear of Messing Up. And there's FOMOSYTPAMU. Fear of missing out so you take part and mess up. But that's a really long album title.
Anyway,
Now, now... get those feet off the furniture, young man!

I thought that too especially since i live in Detroit and nobody dresses like that there.
A coworker is friends with one of the local guys who was on the shoot, and he said that the local guys wore their own clothes pretty much. DHani was put in the most expensive stuff.
Here is a slideshow with lots of Dhani on this page. I may have seen his footprints in the snow in front of the Mowtown museaum! (Hard to tell. there's lots of footprints in the snow which is all gone now)
