Although I can't stand the Carpenters and think they're too maudlin for me, there was one song I liked. I liked the 1971-72 "Hurting Each Other." That's it.

I confess that I didn't like their covers of Beatle songs.

I think Karen had a fantastic voice, crystal clear, I really like the Carpenters, I love their Christmas album, have it on every Christmas....

"Goodbye To Love", absolutely. GREAT guitar solo, by Tommy somebody. Of course, Karen Carpenter had a great drum sound as well, something she never gets credit for.

I thought Karen was at her best singing the sad songs--there was something very smokey and somber in her voice when she sang the quiet songs. I like Superstar and Rainy Days and Mondays.

When I was a kid, I wanted We've Only Just Begun at my wedding.
I never got the wedding!

superstar...Karen Carpenter was buried at the Forest Lawn Cemetery here where I live in Cypress, California...then they moved her...one of caretakers at FL told me they moved her to be with her parents...
