Default Is FaceBook Closing?

Somebody notified me off list that FB is closing March 15.

http://www.followtechnology.com/soci...012-confirmed/

I don't know if this is genuine or some trick.

This is a serious question.

It looked fake, to me. Also, the fact that it said "share it with ur friends" kind of looked like it was just a joke. These petition things usually aren't real.

I'm going out on a limb here and saying this one isn't real.

It has all the telltale signs of being fake but just to make sure I checked Snopes.

And guess what? It's already closed!

Thank you. I thought it might be BS, but I wanted to be absolutely sure.

Facebook is growing massive and has become a large company, why would someone even think it would be closed.

Facebook is handy to me because I can keep in contact with people that, when I last saw them, did not have an email address or cell phone number that I knew of. (I'm talking friends from three or four years ago.) I'll see most of these friends in school this fall, so we can catch up on stuff and make plans before the first day.

And when I see a funny article on failblog or something about manatees, I have to "like" it!

Heck, I dont need Facebook for anything I do.

Keep in contact? Get their email or google them or something.

Post photos? Oh come on.

"Like" stuff? If it's anything interesting I'll post it on a messageboard.

Play games? I'll take SimFarm over FarmVille any day.

I don't like trickery and this closing business is just a lie and a trick.

He that sounds so 'old fashioned'
I used to msn or sms (text message) a lot, but today I'm tweeting or sending an app ;) Internet and everything that comes with it has brought me back in contact with a lot of people I lost contact with. Facebook is fun! I love it

Facebook is great and can be a lot of fun and be informative as well, if you see many "Like" buttons you are probably at the wrong places and to need to sign in to a site via a Facebook log in makes me think you are in the wrong kind of websites.

As I've said, I have friends that I haven't seen much over the years (not to say I haven't seen them at all) and I don't *have* their email addresses. Also, you can edit the privacy settings on Facebook so that your name won't come up when Googled, so that won't work either.

Being on Facebook does allow other people to see your email address (for me, only friends I specify) but since most of my friends use Facebook a lot more than email, which is probably a tad outdated now anyway, it's easier for me to keep in touch with them before I'll see them at school. :) Then, I'll use Facebook to chat with friends that I left behind last year.

There are advantages to FB. You can make contact with people you don't regularly see and others who can join you in a cause.

You can keep your email hidden. I don't play any of the games and I don't give out information.

Of course, if you DON'T want to keep in touch with everyone you've ever met... Seriously, know that quite a few services coordinate your facebook profile with your real name and address. Don't believe me? Why not make a search on your own name and find out what others might already know about you.

BB - Yes, that's how I feel! :D Save the Manatee Club, for instance, is very important to me, so I "liked" its page on Facebook so that my friends could see and maybe adopt a manatee of their own.

And yeah, the privacy settings are very flexible. I have different lists for my friends, "old friends" (i.e. people who I haven't seen for a while), best friends (these people can see the most information about me), family, and teachers/employers, in the future.

Hahaha. Facebook is a business. They just want to make money off you.
