I use an old-fashioned bottle opener to just barely lift the side of the lid enough for air to get in, and then open by hand. Works every time.

I usually just bang the lid against the counter, and it pops open.
...although sometimes it won't close...
if that happens, I use a ziploc baggie.

I use a spoon or a knife to tap the lid, and normally it pops open after that. Or, I run the lid under very hot water.

Wont traces of water get in the jar?

You could always turn the jar upside down and bang the lid on a hard, flat surface a couple of times. Usually works best on tile floor. Not too hard though, don't want to break anything. It works!

I can usually get the lid off first time. I like the popping sound the lid makes when it comes off. Never ever let the jar see that it's getting the better of you!
