Need Beatles trivia help, please!
Help!
I need some help on a Beatles trivia question about their Shea Stadium concert on August 15, 1965.
They flew to & from the concert in a large, twin-rotor helicopter with a red, white, and blue paint scheme.
The trivia question is:
What is the helicopter's *tail number*?
I've been told you can see this in the 1996 Beatles Anthology video series, but unfortunately I don't own it.
The tail number may be visible in tape #4 (August 1964 to August 1965), or in tape #5 (August 1965 to July 1966).
Could someone please take a look and let me know if you can see it?
If you know of any Web sites with still photos (or video clips) showing the tail number, I"d sure appreciate their URLs.
Thanks much,
huntsmanga

I have the actual Shea! concert video. If nobody comes up with the answer soon, I'll dig it out and see what I can find.

Re: Need Beatles trivia help, please!
Sgt.,
In the Anthology, try the last portion of tape #4 (August 1964 to August 1965), or the first portion of tape #5 (August 1965 to July 1966).
Here's the Beatles' schedule on concert day:
1. On August 15, 1965, the day of the concert, the Beatles were
staying in the Warwick Hotel in NYC.
2. A limousine drove them to a heliport somewhere on Wall Street. They
boarded a large red, white, and blue helicopter with twin tandem
rotors and eight windows on each side.
3. The helicopter took off and flew them roundabout over NYC towards
Shea Stadium.
4. They planned to land inside the stadium, but city officials made
them land instead at the nearby World's Fair.
5. From the World's Fair grounds, they got into a red Wells Fargo
armoured truck which drove them into the Shea Stadium.
6. After their 35 minute, 12 song concert, the Beatles left the stage
and got into a white ambulance which took them back to the Wells Fargo
truck. The WF truck took them back the World's Fair.
7. Reboarding the helicopter, they took off and flew back to the
heliport on Wall Street.
8. They were driven back to the hotel.
I think that the tail number might be visible at Stops #2, 4, or 7.
Thanks for the help,

Jerry,
Thanks for looking.
BTW, what's the title and distributor of your Shea Stadium concert tape?
Where did you buy it?

Re: Need Beatles trivia help, please!
Just checked out the video I have. It's not really released by anybody, it's like a bootleg video. But the show itself is the produced version of the concert, with interviews, other acts, and all that other junk. I watched very closely for all the scenes with the helicopter, but the camera never got close enough to read any numbers on it. But there was one time where you could see "New York" something on the side of it. The helicopter itself was pretty cool, it had 2 propellers. That's about it, sorry I couldn't help.

You can get the 1965 film off of eBay.

Re: Need Beatles trivia help, please!
Jerry - Thanks much for checking. I think the copter had "New York Air" on it, probably the name of a now defunct air taxi service. I least I know better where *not* to look.
Anybody? - check the Anthology as I noted above?
