Please ,when was Beatles cartoon broadcasted in U.S. and U.K. ?

I don't know the UK date, but here's what I found out about the US broadcasts for my book, Inside the Yellow Submarine:
"On September 25, 1965, The Beatles' half-hour weekly cartoon series began in the United States on ABC-TV. Every Saturday from 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM until September 7, 1969, you could see cartoon Beatles “perform” their old and new recordings. Paul Frees did the voices of John and George, and Lance Percival did Paul and Ringo’s voices. The amazing success of The Beatles series-- it won a 45-50 share of the audience--is something unlikely ever to happen again with the diversity of channel choices today."

All I know about the UK broadcasts is this:

The series was shown on Granada TV in the U.K. many years later, although The Beatles had in their agreement for them to be animated that they wouldn’t be shown in England - which is what delayed them so long.

Hope that helps.

I loved those cartoons as a child. I didn't like "George's" voice and thought it sounded too wimpy. It made me sad to see Ringo made to look the fool when I was little. Paul was cute and John was funny. I loved the sing-a-longs because you could read the words and learn.

I always enjoyed sitting in front of the TV every Saturday to watch them. When they were taken off the air I thought I'd never see them again. Thanks to another member here, I now have the entire set of cartoons on DVD. I really do enjoy them. Thanks again, Larry.

Your book on the film is probably the best treatment on the subject going. In fact, I prefer reading your book along with the film over the very dry, uninspired commentary on the SAP that comes with the DVD!

For those of you who have not yet gotten INSIDE THE YELLOW SUBMARINE, I offer my unsolicited, unremunerated endorsement for this book. This is probably some of the best scholarship ever given to any animated film in print.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">You can say that again, BB!

George's voice was from the 4 the strangest, yet the cutest! But his accent was a little too bit over the edge!
I only saw that series when I was 12-13 years old... I can still remember the episodes (only ones), especially one called "Hold Me Tight", where Geo and Rings spends an afternoon sightseeing on the Statue of Liberty and saw a strange guy with a pack, thinking that was a bomb! Geo got stuck up there on the crown, yelling for "HELP!!!!!", and Rings to the rescue!!! The Bomb unfortunately was a sandwich!

Cool, wasn't it?

i was wondering if the dvd of the cartoons is in good shape. . . .
i found the whole set on vhs last year from ebay, it is nicley packaged and it seems to be taken from the mtv vaults, (it has the commercial breaks left in), but the quality is spotty at best. some are great, some pretty funky.
i ripped most and edited them for dvd. it worked real fine, and now i have most flipped already,
but i wonder if there are any good copys out there already. . .

I agree with you, Celeste. Larry had some damaged CDs that the cartoons were on, but he replaced for me too. They are truly FAB-ulous.
