I know a lot of "beatle haters" out there...
I know a lot of people hate the Beatles, and there are even anti-beatles websites, you've probably been to one.
Theres a pretty interesting site here that explains why the anti-beatles sites are wrong:
http://www.bseenmedia.com/other/beatles.html
I think it's great.

I guess I wouldn't bother with any of that. If people don't have anything better to do with their time than go around slagging the things they don't like, I kind of feel sorry for them.

I printed that out, put in an envelope, and put it in my neighbor's mailbox. We often have convorsations on the Beatles, she hates them. She says she doesn't undersand them. But she only knows "Yellow Submarine" and " Love Me Do" so, really, she should keep her mouth shut.

No offense, but some of that stuff is a little sketchy. The Beatles didn't have guns in the studio (to my knowledge), Revolver is not named after a handgun, it's named after the motion of the record as it spins on the turntable, and Mal Evans was not killed in a "shoot out" with the LAPD, although he was shot by the police. And if the reference to the Beatles producer being on trial means Phil Spector, I'm sorry, but George Martin is the Beatles producer in my book.

I agree. Some of the stuff was sketchy ( because I knew about the Revolver title), but just the opening line of ' The Beatles do not suck' was good enough for me to print out and give to my neighbor.

What burns me up the most is people who "hate" the Beatles because they don't want to even give them a chance. It's always, "They're not cool because they're old," or "They suck, my parents like them." How do you figure THAT? If they're old and people still give a crap, then that should prove that they're great because they stood the test of time. And did you ever think that perhaps your parents have some taste? (Not to mention a lot of these people who say this are wearing Rolling Stones T-shirts, the little hypocrites.)
Also, everyone who says they hate them when they've only heard three of their songs makes me want to smack them. Just because those are the ones YOU heard does not mean that that's the best they had to offer, I promise. A lot of what I consider their best songs are obscure and unknown anyway.

I second. I get a lot of that crap at school about the Beatles. But,I think every musian or rapper or whatever you want to call them, was in infulenced by someone who was influenced by the Beatles, you know?
I agree with the whole t-shirt thing too. Actually, this one girl has this Beatles shirt. She doesn't even know who they are.Honestly, she bought it because it was " vintage ". Same thing with all the AC/DC shirts.

There were plenty of Beatle haters in the 60's, too. Especially after John spoke about Jesus. That was a big, big deal at the time.
Oh, well, I don't care for opera, but I wouldn't bash it... Oh well... Nothing is much different to day as to yesterday. Hum...

There is no rational reason to hate The Beatles! It's just incomprehensible when John and Paul are considered my most rock and music critics, other well known music artists, and millions of people to be brilliant song writers and great singers! And all that they contributed to music and how much great quality music they made of all different styles in just 7 years! Even brilliant classical composer Leonard Bernstein said John and Paul were the two most brilliant song writers of the 20th century. Brian Wilson and Elton John said this too on US TV shows,Brian on a Beatles Nightline Tribute show in 1995,and Elton John on CBS moring news show in 1991.There are at leatt 6 music professors who are teaching courses on The Beatles at good universities. One of them is award winning music professor and classical composer Dr.Glen Gass at Indiania University.
He's also been teaching a course on rock music since 1982. Dr.Gary Kendal's Beatles course at North Western University is the most requested at the university too. Even Ozzy Osbourne says not loving The Beatles is like saying you don't love oxogen! He also says The Beatles were the greatest band to ever walk this earth. I have also found 42 former Beatles haters on web sites and message boards who are now big Beatles fans. They say they heard a lot of garbage said about them and now they say how stupid they were for hating them and they had a lot of innacurate ignorant misperceptions about them and hadn't even heard most of their music. Others said they didn't start to like and appreciate them until they were in their 30's.
I also found over 11 pages on the google search engine of people saying they hate The Rolling Stones too! There is an online interview with musician Frank Marino of the hard rock group Mahagony Rush and he says he can't stand The Rolling Stones and calls them the worst hoax ever! He says they have been conning people for years and that a lot of people are suckers for The Rolling Stones! In several recent online interviews,Frank says he likes and listens to The Beatles though! I just read on a guy's blog that The Beatles are the # 1 selling artists in Amazon.com's Hall of Fame. U2 is # 2 and The Rolling Stones are # 10. The guy said it's plausible that The Beatles are # 1 because they are the greatest rock band of all time. U2 and The Stones are still together but The Beatles broke up in 1970,it just shows how great and timeless their music is!

Who cares if some people don't like them? If someone makes a personal attack at one of them, then I'll defend them, but people have a right to their opinion.
As for getting crap at school for liking the Beatles, I'm just the opposite. Obviously, most of the kids aren't fans, but they all know I am, and a lot of people come up to me and show me magazine articles they saw, even just crossword puzzle clues relating to the Beatles. One girl actually bought me a Beatles interview CD just because she saw it in a store for $5. So while I'm not popular by any means, I am respected as a Beatles authority of sorts.

That sums it up in a nutshell. Talk about wasting one's time.

Good point above. People are entitled to their opinions and I don't necessarily have to agree. If people don't like the Beatles, (which I cannot understand), all right, I accept that. If anybody makes a personal attack on any Beatle, then I will defend them. Rama, it takes a big person like you are to acknowledge that others are entitled to their opinions. That is something I can respect.
Rama, you are very lucky. I took all kinds of heat and crap in school because I was a Beatles' fan. There were some nice kids who did what you described above - shared a Beatles' article or anything else even remotely involving the Beatles. No surprise, but I was never popular by any means, in time, I was respected as a Beatles authority.

I care a lot actually if people hate them it's really depressing and sad! I don't think they have a "right" to hate such talented people! Please see my recent post about this on Abbyrd's Beatles site. I might write it all here again but it's so long I just don't want to write it all over again right now.

To "hate" is the Beatles is ignorance. The Beatles pioneered the path for current popular music.

But It's Their Great Quality *MUSIC* That's The Reason Not To Hate Them!

Yes,you are absolutely right it's very ignorant, but it's not mainly for the reason you said. I mean can you seriously listen to most of their beautiful quality music and comprehend how *anyone* could hate it? I understand not liking a few songs, because out of 100 amazing songs some are better than others, but they did so much great quality music of so many different styles in just a 7 year recording career! John and Paul were also very innovative, creative and brilliant in the recording studio!
And as I said, look at all of these 42 former Beatles haters who are now big fans I found on message boards by typing in the words in the google searge engine,"I used to hate The Beatles". If any of you go to music reviewer John Mcferrin's music review site, and read his review of The Beatles, you will see the interesting things he says about how he used to hate them because he heard a lot of garbage said about them and finally listened to their albums and loves them now! He says their music is truly awesome and he now marvels at how his head was stuck in his butt for so long he now loves all of their music!
He even says She Loves You is a great record, and says he had heard all of this garbage said about their early music that it was dated pop crap! He was born in 1980 by the way. He also says that one of the tragedies of this generation is that in many circles not only is it not "hip" to enjoy The Beatles ,but in many ways their name has become something of a dirty word. Dated pop crap and all sorts of yeah, yeah, yeah nonsense,he says you know the drill. He then says he was fooled to the extreme, and because of this the vvery idea of owning any of their music was nausea-inducing to the extreme. Now he says A Hard Day's Night is one of his favorite albums!
I called music professor Dr.Glen Gass in March and left a message on his answering machine about my concerns with all of the total ignorant negative inaccurate myths and misperceptions I am finding posted by mostly young people on a surprising number of mesage boards. One of the most ignorant things being said is that they were a manufactured pop boy band like The Back Street Boys,NSYNC etc!
Of course anyone who knows their history of playing in strip clubs for 8 hours a night for two years in Hamburg Germany, taking speed pills just to stay awake, wearing black tight leather pants and jackets, smoking, cursing, hitting each other on stage and going to bed with many young women groupies, and playing in the Cavern for a couple of years, before Brian Epstein created the fake cleaned up image, knows this is totally ridiculous and false! Dr.Gass left a message on my answering machine and said that I don't have to worry, the Beatles popularity isn't going anywhere. He said he knbows 20 year olds who really love them, because they really love their music. He said there was a backlash with the popularity of their 1 CD but they are like any great thing, like Beethoven that will be forever!

It was the same in my school -- a lot weren't "fans," but they liked certain songs, like Hey Jude.
And even if they disliked them, they would tell me if there was a magazine out about them on newstands or tell me that Live 8 is playing and McCartney is there. Good friends, I have :)
