Question John Fans / Paul Fans Only ~ Fave Songs by The Other One

So... If John is your favorite Beatle, share with us your favorite Paul songs (one with the Beatles, one solo). If it's Paul who strikes your fancy, then do the same with John (one Beatles song, one solo song).

Since I love John the best, here are my fave Macca songs:

Beatles ~ Michelle and The Long and Winding Road
Solo ~ Maybe I'm Amazed (the honesty and vulnerability are very John-like)

I love other Paul songs, but those are my faves. Your turn...

Beatles: Strawberry Fields Forever
Solo: Watching The Wheels

Good topic!

Beatles: Strawberry Fields Forever
Solo: Working Class Hero

My fave Beatle is Paul but I can't imagine the band without the massive genius of John Lennon.

Beatles: Helter Skelter
Solo: Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey (weird one to pick, but I got my reasons)

Hmmm... I'm curious now. Is there a good story behind that?

vekku... I agree. Although I have always loved John, I have also always appreciated Paul's immense talent.... and the magic the two of them created!

well, its nothing amazing, but I'll tell ya anyway, since you asked.

Waaaaay back, when I was like 4 or 5 my mom used to spend Saturday afternoons cleaning the house. She'd always play records while she was doing it (yeah, actual records). And it would usually be the same ones all the time. Being the Paul lover that she is, she'd often play Wings (although the exact album, I dont remember) and Uncle Albert was the song that I liked the best. After awhile that stopped, but I always remembered liking Uncle Albert and thats probably why I still do now.

That's a really nice reason... I think we all have great childhood Beatles memories... that's where the magic began!

Uncle Albert is on Ram.

Beatles: (man this is tough) Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/ The End. (Fan-freaking-tastic).
Solo: Here Today (Which coincidentally is written about John). Band on the Run is great too.

OK, Paul is my favorite--at least since the break-up.

It's going to be hard to narrow down favorite John songs, because I like a lot of his stuff very much...

The Beatles: "Strawberry Fields Forever"--This has always been my very favorite psychedelic song, ever since I first heard it in early '67, on a TV show which featured the old promo clip.

Solo: "Instant Karma"--I just really believe what it says. Every line is the truth. It's a perfect life philosophy in a 3 minute pop single. Wow...

Interesting. Was John your fave before? Or was it a case of your just being a fan of The Beatles as a whole? And was it Paul's music or his behavior after the split that you liked more. Just curious...

What I'm saying is that most of my favorite Beatles songs just happen to feature John Lennon, but I'm a much bigger fan of Paul's post-Beatles music than of John's.

And it has certainly always been about Paul's music. Sometimes his behavior really bugs me. He can be so very arrogant, and I find that very unappealing.

My favourite John songs are probably:

Beatles: 'Julia'... or maybe 'Across the Universe'... gosh, there are so many...
Solo: 'Beautiful Boy'
