here's the poem

his hair we love like the rest of him
all short or long
for the years sideburns by his ears
oh how we would luv to be his hair
for to be on top of him would be a thrill
all thick or thin
luv his hair like the rest of him
and sry if this poem is dim

I never in my wildest dreams imagined John's hair could incite such impassioned musings.

Default the Muttonchops Lennon

To be honest, this look may be at the very bottom of John's flawless hair list. It's like psychedelia meets 1865. I'm trying to love it, but it just makes me smile and nod. Still though, John had the kind of face and allure to work pretty much any style. So I will hand it to him and give this look a little spam love.

Hi Maia

I love this picture too; he looks incredibly cool on it , though it's not my top-favourite hairstyle; I found them a bit too long at the back and it shows too much the broad forehead .

I have a general question concerning the "curliness" of John's hair: Are you sure that it was NATURAL ? I mean, in most of the pictures, especially those taken during the Beatlesmania, John's hair looked quite flat. I only can recall John having curled hair during the Stg. Pepper's session, some during the lost weekend and the later ones in 1980.

I just wonder what other members think about ?

Aaah, so that style is called "muttonchops"; I'm glad that you pointed this out, Scruffie Ha, psychedelia meets 1865; there is some truth in it

Sorry, but I don't quite agree with you I found this a very original and special look... and it certainly wouldn't suit evey man... but John looked just amazing that way IMHO I'd even put it on my favourite top-list , faaaaar cooler than just long hair

Too bad that he had those muttonchops just for a short time...

I'm afraid I agree with Scruff here, Snoopy. Leave the muttonchops to the US Civil War veterans back in the 19th century. Props to John for making a go of it, but they look better on old guys in sepia photographs.

This thread is genius. Why am I looking at John like I'm a 17 year old Beatle fan again? I consider it a benefit to all of us that you create these superficial threads Apple Scruff. Plus your first post is so funny, "I have no expectations but DO EXACTLY WHAT I SAY."

...and I really dig his '72 rocker style!

While others wore their hair Bay City Rollers mullet style, John really knew how to rock!!

He was way too fashionable to rock that awful Bay City Rollers look. Poor Paul and Linda tried and they did not look too hot.
