Default Do You Blog?

You blog, I blog, he blogs, she blogs! Who here blogs? And how many do you tend to read?

There was an interesting article in Utne Reader about the impact of the blog culture and loss of personalization. Do you think friends who have online journals tend to write less personally or frequently?

I have one I forget to write in most of the time, but when i do, it is fun.

I read a few, including two which almost always have me laughing hysterically.

How about you guys?

I don't know if people tend to write less personally. In fact, I think most people get MORE personal when blogging, particularly if it's an anonymous blog. It's a way to vent.

I have a blog that I write in once in a while. Most of the time I'm still writing in my old-fashioned paper-and-pen journal at night, though.

I got one that I try to write in at least once every single day. Not very interesting though. I read all my friends.

I found out things about my 21 year old daughter that she probably wasn't expecting me to find out, lol. Hey she was the one that directed me to her blog.

Yeah, sir, I do blog (even if it is just in Portuguese) Started as a way to keep contact with my friends at the newsroom I worked at, and then just became a way to vent and talk to other people. A soapbox tribune, if I may. and I love to read other people's livejournals and blogs - found some good friends through it.

I still keep the pen-and-paper journals, though - started when I was nine and never really gave up.

I can't believe this topic is over a year old. I didn't know about blogs when I first posted. Now I read five on a regular basis. Granted three of those are my daughters.

The most exciting one, for me is her travel blog. Reading about her experience in a different country and culture is fun. I have found it is a good way to keep up with family. I do not have to rely on the aunts any more. Of course I have to remind myself to check in with them from time to time ;)

I don't blog "but" when I had my Web Canada Directory site up and running, I had a blog site which I used as a way to tell visitors what was new for the week. Was a lot easier than setting up a whole set of pages on my site because the blog site would archive everything automatically for me.

I thought I would share my daughters travel blog with you all. I know many of you like to travel this way She would love comments from anyone too.

For those of you who don't know. She just graduated college and was offered this opportunity to be an assistant professor at a college just outside Tokyo. Her blog looks at the experience of living/teaching in a foreign culture.

I've tried, but I just can't keep up. And it seems so pointless. Anything that I want others to know, I e-mail or post to forums where I know a lot of people (like here) and anything I don't want others to know, I write in my own private off-line journals.

But thanks for sharing your daughter's journal, pinky, how fascinating! She's a very eloquent young woman, sounds like you did right by her.

I'm with Rell' on this. I have one. I've used it. But I only allow a few friends to view it. And those friends are close to me, so they know what's on my mind anyway! And I was mainly using it to b*tch and moan, so I don't bother with it much anymore.

I started a blog only once, but I didn't keep it up. To be honest, I have so many friends of all ages (youngest being 10), and I was always worried about writing things that would be G rated and age-appropriate for all who read it. Plus, I never had too much to say... I would never rant about someone who was annoying me, in case they ended up reading it and I'd be embarrassed silly.

I do keep a written diary, though, and I much prefer to use that. As (hopefully) no one reads it, I'm allowed to talk about anything I want, to freely speak my mind, and not really worry about people finding out things I wouldn't want them to!

That's really interesting! I just read the last couple entries in her blog, and it was a neat experience to read about, thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks Rell & Lizzy.....yes I am very proud of her :) I am so pleased she has this opportunity. It is going to be interesting to read throughout the year...as the newness wears off....She loves to write tho, so I think she will keep up with it well.

Of course with something like this it makes it easier for her to update friends and family. She is also doing it for literary purposes as well......thanks for visiting....
