White Album A0000001 has showed up
...and it's for sale.

It's long been rumored that Ringo was in possession of this. Evidently not the case. But is this really the only #1? The White Album was pressed in both stereo and mono. Which one is this and does the other version have a #1? And what's w the A preface?

That's quite a find if it's real. I'm pretty sure the "A" was for America. And it would be in stereo, because mono White Albums weren't pressed in the USA. Or that's what I always remember.

That makes sense to me. They mention in the description about A0000023 being sold. But didn't mention that 0000005 was sold a yr or two ago. Maybe because that was a UK version. So maybe Ringo does have a #1 still? The story that went w #5 was that it was acquired from John Lennon's apt in London where he had a stack of newly pressed White Albums. It was believed that 1-4 went in the possession of the Beatles themselves. This US #1 didn't come w actual vinyl records. It was just an empty sleeve. The UK #5 had original records w it. Or at least they were claiming they were original.

I don't know how you could put a price on this. It's the first US copy ever, and it's verified with the number. Shouldn't it be considered one of the rarest Beatles record ever? Even a sealed stereo butcher isn't one of a kind.

This album sold for $30K US dollars. That's more than I've ever seen paid for any album. Wasn't there a Beatles 7" acetate one of a kind? That aside, this is definitely the rarest.

Really amazing find! Fascinating! I would love to have that as part of my collection... quite pricey though

Paul McCartney has said that The Beatles had 1-4 and that Lennon had #1. Also that his copy had long been misplaced (probably stolen) and that he expected it would show up for auction one of these days.

I'm skeptical, but if it's real that's awesome.
