I just LOVE Madonna's 1998 "Ray of Light."

In re The Breakfast Club - love the 1985 definitive "80s classic," but hate the song. The Obscene Phone Call song is what it sounded like to me.

An excellent song that never got much play is the Dave Clark 5's "Try Too Hard." I love the DC-5 and that is one of my favorite songs. So is the Vogues' 1965-66 hit, "5:00 World." :thumbu2"

Peter, Paul & Mary work for me! I just love them and I've seen them several times.

I love 5:00 World!

I wonder how Mary Travers is doing--she had a bone marrow transplant in May, I think, didn't she?

When all our heros are dead, Strones, Dylan, Floyd etc, after all they are heading for their 70's, I wonder who shall replace them? Nobody i think.

You know, I think a part of the reason our heroes are our heroes was because of the era and the events they were reacting to in music. The 60's was such a tumultuous time, nothing was like the 50's anymore. The wars in the middle-east, the economy, etc. It'll take time to know if these will change society and the arts in as huge a way. But the music itself will probably not experience such a great change in styles as it did then.

One thing that is sad is that all these airhead teenybopper-ish bimboes that are such big stars these days. To me, they helped set women's progress back 30 years.

Pink Floyd?

I think they just do "Run Like Hell" and go home but I might be wrong.

...the prairie winds...the leaves of grass...the elegant echoes of halcyon days gone by...that is who shall replace them.

I absolutly agree with that. I hate all those "If I can act then I can also sing" and "I must get skinnier" celebs. They ruin everything that is real.

I don't like that either. Hilary Duff is a good actress, but I don't think her talent
includes singing. The same applies to the Olsen Twins. I'd rather watch them
act than hear them sing. They even admitted in a recent interview that when
it came to singing, "they weren't the greatest." No argument from me.

I hate the Chipmunks and have since I was 3. I just can't stand those
dreadful, played at the wrong speed voices and their atrocious covers
of popular songs. When I first heard the Beatle songs they abused, it
made me want to run for cover! I'd rather hear the garbage
disposal and the leaf blower than those damn Chipmunks!

Whoa whoa whoa! What songs were these? They did covers of Beatle songs with the Chipmunks, no they killed it!

The Chipmunks did absolutely horrendous covers of Beatle songs in those ghastly, falsetto wrong speed voices. I have never liked the Chipmunks and, when I was a very little child heard their dreadful abuse of Beatle songs, that put me off to them even more.
