Gasoline Soars to Over Four Dollars a Gallon
05-23-2008 6:38 AM

(San Diego, CA) -- San Diego motorists are now paying over four dollars a gallon for gasoline. The Auto Club of Southern California says the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular increased nearly four and one-half cents over the past week to just over four dollars. The price is up 13-cents from April and 57-cents from May of 2007. It's the seventh time in the last eight weeks the price has risen to a record high. An Auto Club spokesperson says the reason is the same: spiking crude oil prices that affect the costs of production of gasoline along with the costs of the raw material.

I paid 1.40 Euro per litre at the pump two days ago. This is for regular gas, not that fancy-shcmancy stuff. lol

Roughly converted 1.40 Euro is about 2.20 USD, and 2.18 CDN. doesn't sound like much, but to Europeans it is quite a hefty sum of money.

Does anyone ever fill up anymore?

Actually it does sound like a lot. We in the USA purchase by the gallon. So $2.20 per liter equals about $8.75 (US) per gallon.

D'oh! You're right, it is more expensive. I don't know why I keep forgetting that Americans use gallons and not liters. That's what you get when you grow up using the Metric system.

Paid $30.00 for 7 gallons last night. Thats about 4.20 a gallon.

Fear not my friends, I read a communique at work that predicted $5.00 a gallon before July. The fun is only starting.

I saw a true sign of the times a few days ago. While driving my route on highway 287 in Westchester, NY, a came behind a individual who was riding a scooter. The juxaposition of my 8 cylinder diesel engine van and his two cylinder scooter made me grin. But he was a sign of things to come.

I don't know whether I should laugh or cry anymore, reading about what you lot pay for a gallon and how much it costs you.
The price here has now climbed to 1.50 Euro (which is like $2.30) per liter, and filling up you feel like paying for a small house these days.
Remember: That's the price for A LITER, so you need to what, take it times 3,8?

So - sorry, no sympathy from me...

Last night I wrote emails to both McCain and Obama. I mentioned to them both that the price of gas SUCKS! No easier way to put it. I went on to mention that if something doesn't happen soon; before the next presidential term is up we'll all be walking to work.

Damn, I was so needing your sympathy. If I were you, I'd have a damn good laugh while I paid my $8.50 per gallon.

I'm very seriously considering buying a bike to get to work, since my job is relatively close (6 miles or so?) to my home.

I put my bike on the back of the car, Magill drops me off at work. And I ride the seven miles back home on the rail trail.
