Gasoline Prices Reach Another Record
04-11-2008 5:03 AM

(San Diego, CA) -- Gasoline prices in San Diego County have hit another record. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline reached three-dollars-76-cents this week, erasing the previous record of three-dollars-68-cents set last Friday. Experts say the price increases are a result of steady hikes in the cost of crude.

Whoa! Here it's currently at $3.35 for regular. I don't envy you, my friend. I wonder what the Bay Area is at right now. They usually top the list for national gas prices.

Wow, I can't even remember the last time I paid $3.35 a gallon (at the speed at which prices are jumping around here, it was probably just last month!!). I paid $3.67 last night at the local AM/PM (Arco) station, which is usually the cheapest "name brand" around here.

Arco ROCKS! Would you believe the last fill-up I had at the Cypress Arco was just a little over $1.00 a gallon--maybe $1.25? Oh, Lawrd! How I long for those days!

Default How's this for a one-liner?

This was sent to me in an e-mail the other day. Here's the text only:

"I went into the gas station today and

asked for five dollars worth of gas.....

The clerk farted

and gave me a receipt"

Unhappy

Paid $3.72 yesterday. I can see $4 a gallon by this summer, if not sooner.

It seems to have been some of the cheapest in the country around here, but I paid $3.55 this morning. The first time my little Hyundai ever took more than $30 to fill it's wee tank!

Also, I just read a new story about Shell's profits being up 25% in the first quarter, mostly due to the rising price of oil. The article was very positively written, as if it's a success story in a time of economic crisis. I realize it's a bit more complicated than this, but if you boil it down doesn't this mean that they are reaping high profits from price gouging you and me?

When I went into work this morning, gas was $3.51. By the time I left, it was $3.65. I'm so sick of this.

Me too. The Houston area is just now phasing in a train system, long overdue, considering the sprawl.
