Default Lonesome Town and No Other Baby

If any two songs in history were perfect for Pauls voice it's these two from Run Devil Run.
I've never heard the originals but I cant believe they are better!

I've heard the original of "Lonesome Town" many times, but never "No Other Baby". I completely agree on "NOB" - that vocal is just...well, whew! I'm not as big of a fan of "Lonesome Town" - it's well-performed and all, I just don't like the song itself all that much, it's so dire. I love that whole album though. I like the way the new stuff was written in an "old" style for the most part so it all fits together.

I agree. Especially with No Other Baby. Actually all of Run Devil Run is a showcase for Paul's vocals and his all around talent.

I have heard the original for Lonesome Town...and the singer (one of the Nelson's) doesn't do nearly as good a job as Paul, imo. Of course the quality of recording wasn't as good either.

I love Paul's voice in No Other Baby as well...

It's the other way arround for me...

I'm not crazy about the "Run devil run" album... but I VERY much like "No other baby" !

Same thing for his "russian" covers album... appart from "Cracking up", "It's now or never" (from the same sessions, but not on the album)...

... and I totally love "Summertime" !

Definitely Run Devil Run is the best cover album from Paul's career. I think I've heard the original version of "Lonesome Town"...and I remember it wasn't very good. "No Other Baby" fits perfectly to Paul's voice, and I love the video too.

About the other tracks..."Brown Eyed Handsome Man" is very well done, the same as the video. "All Shook Up" is another favorite of mine.

Finally, Paul's original compositions are great too. Specially "Try Not To Cry"

"Lonesome Town" has that special appeal of being sort of a "Heartbreak Hotel" sequel, as Paul calls it in the booklet... I think it's a great song; but "No Other Baby" is just a different story. Just a fantastic track, hidden in this somewhat hidden album as well. A terrific track that not many people has heard, and to me one of the greatest of Paul's carrer.

Thumbs up

Yeah, those songs prove yet again that Paul is a rocker extraordinaire.

I LOVE Paul's version of "No Other Baby". It's the best one on the CD, IMHO!
