Re: BESAME MUCHO ;angry8;
They were just covering one of the more popular songs of the day, giving the people what they want, you know. Same reason they sang To Know Her Is To Love Her, or Red Sails In The Sunset.

Re: BESAME MUCHO ;angry8;
Besame Mucho, is GREAT song! I love it, along with "Three Cool Cats", "Ain't She Sweet", "My Bonnie", "Searchin'" and a few others from the early years.

Re: BESAME MUCHO ;angry8;
Usually when someone else covers a Beatles song, it is not nearly as good as the original. Yet when The Beatles covered a song by somebody else, The Beatles version is ALWAYS better! There are NO exceptions, if you ask me.

Re: BESAME MUCHO ;angry8;
Even though it was just to please the crowd, I'm glad they performed it, because they play it very well imho.

Re: BESAME MUCHO ;angry8;
They played Besume Mucho and other songs like Till There Was You so that they could play a big repetoir for any kind of occasion. Paul has said that they used to get little cabaret gigs and ballrooms because they knew those types of songs. What's interesting is that the Beatles changed the lyrics completly to besume mucho, the original spanish version, once translated is not the same as the beatles lyrics.
