Default Back in the US CD and DVD

Since no one else is talking about it I just want to say that I think both the CD and DVD are great. I have not finished watching the DVD yet but I was really impressed with what I saw. The CD sounds wonderful. Both brought back the excitement of the concert to me!

Glad to hear you like it, NS! Between all my Thanksgiving preparations and having to work late last night, I didn't have the time to pick up the DVD last night (I'm waiting on Christmas for the CD....if it was new material, I'd have gotten it right away, but for live stuff, I can wait a few weeks!), but I'm planning to pick it up over the weekend, so I'll have more to say next week!

I got the CD and the DVD yesterday on my lunch break. I've listened to the CD at least 3 times total since yesterday, but I haven't even had a chance to sit down in front of the TV and watch the DVD yet. Ah, well, I'll have some eye candy to keep me busy on my 4-day weekend.

The CD is WONDERFUL--I have an instant flashback to being at the concerts when I hear Hello Goodbye, Let Me Roll It, Back in the USSR, I Saw Her Standing There.

OH ITS SO GOOD! It really did capture the excitement and emotion that came from the concerts...*sniff*...Come back, Paul!

Did anyone from Beatlelinks make it on the DVD? I thought for sure I'd be on it, since the camera guy came right next to me......but I wasn't...darn.

But anyways, it was FAB! And now, I'm off to do the 'secret website' thingie...

I haven't watched the entire thing yet, but I loved the soundcheck footage!! As far as the rest, I'm not exactly all that thrilled so far. Paul's performance is great - can't fault that - but I hate the MTV-style quick cutaway filming, like Paul isn't interesting enough to hold my attention for more than 2 seconds at a time. And there are too many shots of the screens and waaaaaaaay too many shots of well-endowed girls dancing and middle aged people crying. Maybe that gives a flavor of the event to people who weren't there, but I'd rather have less crowd, more Paul, and less jagged editing.

The total DVD is about 3 hours, the TV special with commercials was certainly less than two. Lots more songs and behind the scenes footage.

Anyone else having trouble accessing certain portions of the "secret" website? Some of the files load fine (in Real Player) but others throw an error. I particularly would like to see CMoon and can't seem to get it going.

As for the DVD itself, I think it's fantastic. I saw the show twice and it is bringing back so many memories. It is wonderful to have this keepsake. I think it was very well done, and although I would prefer that we got to see every single song performed in it's entirety, I am not complaining.

sorry to bring this subject back up so long after the fact. My daughter and I just got this on DVD and we argued yet again (like when we watched the t.v. special). But I have tried to go back and read previous topics and I don't think this was talked about. If it was again I'm sorry, but I'm curious to know people's opinions on Paul and this band playing 'The End' ? It bothers me to hear anyone but the Beatles playing it. The fact that I always felt it was their goodbye to us and eachother as a group. I dunno my daughter disagrees immensely with me. What do you guys think?

Just for the record I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD and I think the band does a great job and is fun to watch.

I just love the part where he gets all choked up, that you can still so easily touch the heart of a guy who's seen it all.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">I really don't have a problem with them playing The End. The spirit of the song is there when they do it, at least, and as long as it's done that way, I don't mind it.

I have both the Back in the US DVD and the CD. I like most of the DVD, although I tend to fast-forward through some songs (Heather, Freedom, among a few others) and some segments (the bit in the zoo) that I don't particularly care for. As for the CD, I play it constantly; however, I like the Back in the World CD set (i.e., the European version) even better, because it's closer to the concert I saw in Hartford, CT (where Paul did both Michelle and She's Leaving Home in place of some of the non-Beatles songs).

I Have the DVD, love it, well anything w/Paulie in it, I wish the band were Paul's band from the 80's & 90's tours, now that was a BAND, loved Hamish's harmonies with Paul, I think they were perfect, I also really like Paul's "Freedom" simple, yet to the point and a good rockin' song to me.... this was hard for me to see without Linda there for the 1st time. I also agree they showed a lot more shots than needed of the pretty people in the audience.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">I don't see the reason why he shouldn't play it. The same way as he plays "Yesterday" or "I Saw Her Standing There", he can performs "The End". It's a Beatles classic and he knows it

I do have the CD and the DVD, but the DVD system broke up

I'm bumping this topic up because I just finally got around to really watching this DVD recently. I only got my own DVD player last weekend and only saw the DVD when I first got it, so I finally have really seen it.

I love it, it really brings back those wonderful memories of seeing Paul live. Every time it begins and he appears behind that screen on stage I start to cry, just like I did at the concert.

But I have a question. How do you tell which concert(s) each song is taken from? Was the entire concert from one concert or a collection of the concerts? It's hard to tell, and all the venues look the same. I want to know because it's been so long since my concert and every one of those songs looks like the one I saw, yet I know, for intance, that Penelope Cruz wasn't at mine! I keep looking at the ads on the inside of the venues to see some kind of identification and I can't find any.

Either way, it's still an awesome memento of my concert experience. I have many concerts on tape of The Beatles and Bon Jovi, but none are as emotional for me as this one. It's because I actually attended one of them!

You probably have a topic for this, but I recently bought Back in the World and I must say it's better than Back in the U.S. Even the disc design is cooler.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">The DVD is comprised of segments from different concerts I believe. And I think even some songs may show scenes from several diff. shows - I'm not sure.

Default Re: Back in the US CD and DVD

here's all you ever wanted to know about "back in the us" and "back in the world" sources:

BACK IN THE US DVD / CD / BACK IN THE WORLD TV SPECIAL & CD SOURCES

DVD:
During the MAIN MENU, right in the middle of the screen- there is a
collage of images and there is UNIQUE concert footage from Oakland
which is Absent from the DVD - mainly scenes from Jet, Back in the
USSR and Hey Jude (no actual audio- of course) which are ALSO
availables on the Oakland EPK.

ON THE "SPECIAL FEATURES" MENU there is MORE OAKLAND CONCERT FOOTAGE
not available on the "Concert Film"

UNDER THE "SET LIST" page #1 MENU There is UNIQUE DALLAS MAY 9
footage, including one shot of Paul on his WHITE suit, not available
elsewhere, Plus More Oakland footage, mostly Jet, and Hey Jude. (no
actual audio)
UNDER THE "SET LIST" Page 2, there are MORE Dallas 9 concert footage
of Jet (no audio), plus Hello Goodbye from Oakland, along with
familir footage from the Special, with some minor alternate shots of
some concert footage and from the fans.

Some other more intresting NON CONCERT footage which is not available
on the "Concert Film" is featured on the "Extra songs", "Behind the
Scenes" and "Soundcheck" MENUS. Remember, in the middle of the
screen, without press any button.

-THE CONCERT FILM- (Plus the Available "Extra Songs" on the "Set
List" Menu,Plus the 3 concert Songs Available ONLY on the Web Site)

Note # 1: Sometimes the Versions on the DVD and the CD are the SAME,
but the DVD has extra overdubs, like crowd noises, etc.
Note #2: Only ACTUAL CONCERT footage (Paul, The Band, The Stage) WAS
considered for this review. The DVD and CD features stuff ONLY from
the DRIVING USA tour, not any from the Back in the US tour, although
the Back in the World CD/TV special features stuff from the DRIVING
MEXICO and DRIVING JAPAN legs.
The WHOLE DVD is Full of audience footage from almost all the Venues,
you named it: Los Angeles, Anaheim, Chicago, Cleveland, New York,
Dallas, Long Island;
although there are only a few SOURCES for the On satage footage or
for the Audio.
All elements were considered for this analysis: PHOTOS, PRO SHOTS,
AUDIENCE and SOUNDBOARD Recordings or ALD`S (All 27 shows were put
under analysis), Amateur Video Recordings, etc. Sometimes we need to
look very close to the screen, have a very good DVD player with
excellent functions, frame by frame works great!. All the elemnets
helps, Paul's kind of Suits or jackets, shirts, pants; even How the
Band came to the Stage that night helps.
Any updates, aclarations, and comments are welcome!!!
If any wrong info, please let me know.

ONCE AGAIN: No CROWD footage was considered for THIS review.
JUST THE AUDIO AND ON-STAGE FOOTAGE.
Thanks!
MIKE CARRERA

Default Re: Back in the US CD and DVD

Thanks for that info, Onosideboards. Unfortunately, there really isn't anything of substance taken from my concert at Washington, DC on April 23. Just bits and pieces. The only song in its entirety is "C-Moon" on the CD, and the problem with that is I can't stand that song!

Thanks anyway, though.
