Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
i think that the cd is still a bit of commercial rip off
i know that a lot of people have pointed out that not everyone has unlimited bootlegs
but to me bar a few exceptions it as if paul sat down with a load and said this one that one
there are better versions of most of the recordings, and theversion of across the universe in my view is awful
to me sir paul has tried to 21 century his songs
let it be ,lawr
and just job lot the res
disapointing dire dreadful

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
They could put out an album of the Beatles breathing and I'd buy it. Yes, I'm a sucker for Beatles' recordings. Ran out and grabbed this one today. Some versions are better, others just a bit different. Overall, I'd rather have it than not. -Yeah, I've got similiar versions on various vinyl boots - nice to have it in one place and nice and clear - Love the version of I've got a feeling. Very strong on the vocals! Anyone who doesn't like it should just stick to their copy of Let it Be. Me? I'll keep both of 'em - thank you very much.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">I know what you mean, Lynn. When I was out buying LIB-N & CFG, I spotted a Beatle dvd I didn't have. It's called "Love Me Do". It's narrated by Victor Spinetti and tells about their early days. I bought it since, a) it was too cheap to pass up at 6.99 and b) I love Vic! Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I like this new version of Let It Be. The CD has it's own cohesion. The mixes are clear and clean sounding. The original CD was kind of rough sounding in places.
I don't miss Dig It Or Maggie Mae. Cut from endless jam sessions and edited into song fragments they were meant to be a glimpses into those mindless jams. They added nothing to the original Let It Be.
I like the feeling of the new version. It's not as dark and heavy the original. It has a much brighter mood to it. I would have liked Paul's vamped dialogue on Get Back included as well but, hey, what's the price of milk in Cambodia this week anyway. Last time I checked I still had a pulse...and that version of Get Back on the Blue Album.
This version sounds like what the original Let It Be didn't sound like. It sounds like a Real (latter day) Beatles Album.

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I bought the album this morning and overall, I'm really happy with it. It seems to have a lot cleaner feeling to it, and even if some of the songs are massively different, the sound quality seems much better. I really love the Naked versions of "Across the Universe" and "For You Blue." The bonus disc seems pretty neat too. I've only had time to listen to it once, but there were some really funny bits of conversation. I wish they would have given us longer versions of some of the songs on it, but it's all good.

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I bought the CD after work today. Let me tell you, I love it! I didn't think that I would. At first I didn't really notice that much of a difference, but once you really start to listen, it's there...No "wall of sound".
It sounds so much better! So bare, the way that it should have been. It gives off a mellow "hippy" vibe, and I really enjoyed listening to it. Especially "Let It Be", "The Long And Winding Road" and "Across The Universe".
I really liked the bonus disc too.
I am very pleased, and surprised...I really honestly didn't think that I would like it.
Beautiful! Wonderful! A masterpiece!
I give it two thumbs-up!

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I got the album this morning like many of you
I like it,but I don't really like how "Don'tlet me down" sounds.
I also don't like the cover to the album..they should've put in a better picture.
Other than that the album is FANTASTIC

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
Have only had time to listen once and some of the versions don't sound tremendously different to me, others do. Like "I've Got a Feeling" the best by far.....but also enjoy "The Long and Winding Road" and "Across the Universe", although the latter has a rather odd, dissonant sound to it. I still like it better than with those cloying choruses though.
Edited rest of post because don't want to offend.

I've said this before, but I just don't believe in looking what I consider a gift horse in the mouth. This didn't have to be released and there were plenty of pre-release chances to listen to it and decide if it was to your liking, so you certainly didn't have to buy it if it wasn't. Complaining about extra things that are released just doesn't make any sense to me. Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
i guess i'm too easy to please...whenever some new official release comes out, i'm like a 3 yr old with a new toy! granted, i like 'naked', the glyn johns mixes, and even most of the spector mix, and there are plenty of other things i'd love to see released instead (a la 'decca tapes'). but at any rate, i didn't have any big gripes about 'naked'...i'd love to see the great mastering go into the previous releases as well...this new mix has a really warm feel to it...cheers!

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I'm loving it. It's my third time listening to it. I told BG earlier I didn't care too much for I've Got A Feeling, but put the headphones on and MAN! What a difference! The whole cd is so crisp and clear. It's directly from the documentary/movie. I think George would have been pleased with how his tracks came out. Not to mention his solo on LIB....it's very in your face, like I've never heard it before. And the Fly On The Wall disc is, well, entertaining I suppose. Not sure how often I'll put it on, though. I'd much rather have them re-vamp the movie, but hey, we'll take the crumbs were given...and like it!

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I have to say that I really love 'Let It Be...Naked'! The sound is fantastic, so clear. Unfortunately I haven´t had time to listen to it properly more than 3 times or so, but I like it more and more every time. 'The Long and Winding Road' sounds sooo good on LIBN, I love the new version! The new 'Across the Universe' is also great and I´ve fallen head over heals in love with the new version of 'Let It Be'. Especially John´s and George´s backing vocals are so clear and you can hear them so much better than on the original. Personally I don´t really miss 'Maggie Mae' or 'Dig it', although they were nice little songs, but we still have them on the original LIB, don´t we!? *The bonus-cd is interesting, too, I think.
As for "is it necessary", well, "necessary" isn´t maybe the right word, but I think the re-release of LIB is totally worth it! Some of the tracks are actually better and some are just different. I don´t think any track has been made worse on LIBN, so IMO the new album was totally worth the money I invested in it and I think it´s a treat. I might even recommend it over the original... Well, they are both great!

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
Very well put, Maxine. I think some are being overly critical about LIB-N. Well, it's not replacing anything. We have both of them to enjoy. They're both different and I love them both. This album has and always will hold a special place in my heart. I just love it and always have. One of my favorite tracks on LIB-N is For You Blue. It just sounds so much better to me. And, I gotta admit. Paul was right about L&WR. I really prefer this version without the heavenly choirs and the strings. That always deterred me from listening to it. I'd often find myself skipping it. I'm more of a rocker than a modder, I suppose.

Latest word on a "Let It Be" DVD release is 2004 or 2005.

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I ran right out and bought my copy after work on the release date, the 18th. I have heard the entire disc and particularly like the title track, with the background vocals more in the forefront. There's always been something ethereal, almost spiritual, about the song "Let It Be," and I think the more prominent background vocals just enhance that. "The Long and Winding Road" sounds really good also, as does "I've Got A Feeling." I love the Fly on the Wall disc as well; good insight on what it would have been like to be there. Oh, if only... *
Overall, I'm quite pleased with this new release, and consider myself privileged to own it!

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
Finally got the CD today during work. I really love how "Across the Universe" sounds. It just sounds way better than the Spector-ized version. "Don't Let Me Down" sounds good to me as well. "The Long and Winding Road" is alright but is still a track that I skip *and "Let It Be" sounds no different from the original since they decided to still have the background singers, just had the different guitar part. Overall, I'm satisfied with it.

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I took the oppotunity, with Naked out, to finish up my own Get Back...burned and awesome!
Get Back - by The Myth
1. I've Got A Feeling (Naked)
2. The Walk (Johns Mix)
3. Get Back (Single)
4. Don't Let Me Down (Single)
5. For You Blue (Naked)
6. Can You Dig It (Johns Mix)
7. The Long And Winding Road (Naked)
8. Dig A Pony (Anthology)
9. One After 909 (Naked)
10. Old Brown Shoe (Bootleg)
11. Maggie Mae (Spector Mix)
12. Let It Be (Johns Mix)
13. Get Back [Rooftop Reprise] (Anthology)
14. Two Of Us (Naked)
15. Get Back [Film Reprise] (Bootleg)
- The only question would probably be the use of "Old Brown Shoe." Well I wanted 2 George's. There is no real January recording of All Things Must Pass that I could find, I didn't want to do "I Me Mine" because it wasn't supposed to be on the album to begin with, and every other George take was pretty much disqualified. I found the loose take of "Old Brown Shoe" quite nice for the album.
- I thought long and hard about the song order. "Let It Be" was at #2 to start, then I moved it all the way down to swan the album before the sweet "Two of Us." "I've Got A Feeling" was always the lead for me, though. I never liked "Get Back" as the lead...or "Two Of Us."
You all should try making a "Get Back!" It's fun!

Re: Let It Be... Naked: Our Reviews
I like it...but I am glad the original will still be around....my favorite part is Paul on the piano in Long and Winding Road...but do miss John's commentary.
I like the name and the cover photo is awesome IMHO.
