It would be the biggest thing since Beatles 1 and people would be sitting on edge waiting for the albums featuring the other three fellers :)

So long as the White album had Piggies, Savoy Truffle, Long Long Long, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps, it'd be perfect enough for me.

Exactly... I grew up on the American albums and that order sounds perfect to my ears.

It is how the Beatles made the albums. They even were included in the ranking of each song for the albums.
So to say "Heaven help me" to their handmade products is like...
oh well..whatever...let's just take it lightly..the discussion never ends...

Going back to the White Album discussion, I'd like to add a little twist:
Let's consider what the Beatles would have wanted to do. This becomes a bit harder, because we know they all would have insisted on certain songs (Paul McCartney/Ob La Di, John Lennon/Rev 9).
This brings to light the fact that, if the album was a single album, each of the Beatles would have been disappointed with the track listing because of excluding this or that song. They could have broken up right then and there. And then we wouldn't have Abbey Road or Let It Be.
One more thing I'd like to add: Ending the album with Rev 9 followed by Good Night was perhaps the best possible way. Hearing the serene orchestral passage coming out of the insane chaos of Rev 9 makes me feel like everything is great with the world. Good Night wouldn't have done that otherwise. So the two songs actually have a crucial role in the album's structure. Just more food for thought.

Now this are the kind of discusions I like.
It's a clever way of ending the album. After the turmoil we're asured that everything will be alright again, and we can sleep well.

Yeah, nice idea. Maybe John planned it that way...? (Funny that most people think Goodnight is a McCartney-song! ;) )

If I were to make a mix cd from the white album I'd leave out Ob La Di, Bungalow Bill, Piggies, Rev 9, and Birthday.
Not songs I'd want to hear in rotation.

I read that Good Night was a song written for Julian Lennon. John's wife (exwife?) Cynthia got angry because John had Ringo sing it. Still, Ringo does a pretty good job on it, and so did George Martin ;)

I think saying 'heaven help me' was just meant to illustrate the feeling/disappointment a lot of American Beatle-heads had when the CD versions turned out not to be the LPs they grew up with.
At least that's how I read it.

I was also expecting to find some special songs from the main albums. I do consider the UK albums generally better but I am known of defending the Capitol albums as well.

Omit "Birthday," which I think is a genuine stinker; "Revolution 9" which I never liked and "Wild Honey Pie" which I think is another big stinker.
Leave these stinkbombs off and you have a perfect White Album (that is IMHO).

And Good Night, as I already stated, wouldn't be as great a song if Rev 9 wasn't there. Anyway, Rev 9 does have some merit to it.

Rev 9 let Paul know that he was not going to take over the group.

I totally agree and can't believe anybody can honestly say they like rev 9 and are not posing.
If I hear one more person call it "art" I'm going to pour pot roast all over my chest :)
I can't believe they all let John put this on a Beatle record.
