Your Mother Should Know

I know Paul wrote the song "Your mother should know" and that it has that 1920s early jazz feel. What i want to know is how did the other three Beatles feel about these types of song that Paul wrote. This is for an assignment so please give me any info that you have.

Erm, I couldn't find anything specific to what you're asking, but this is what I found on the song (Edited From 'A Hard Days Write by Steve Turner):
...Like When I'm 64 the song was a throwback to the music his father enjoyed singing when he was a yound man in Jim Macs Jazz Band. ...Paul wrote it at Cavendish avenue and thinks it was effected by the fact his Auntie Gin and Uncle Harry were staying there. It was also the sort of song they would have liked. Paul also had in mind a 'mother knows best' lament for those no longer close to thier parents. Strictly speaking any hit Paul's mother would have known would have been a hit before she was born in 1909 when hits were not determined by record sales but by sales of sheet music. "

As for what the others thought.... Hmm I don't know, because it was about this time that they started to go in different directions, George influenced by Indian music and then later stuff like The Band and The Basement Tapes, Ringo was just starting to write really and John, well, I am the Walrus, then stuff like on Sgt Peppers, What paul was doing was the start of Prog Rock. I guess they all must have liked it as they were all willing to work on it and happy to record it. That was one of the best things about the Beatles, they catered for everyone!

Here's a bit about "When I'm Sixty-Four" (which is kind of the same style as "Your Mother Should Know". This is from A Hard Day's Write by Steve Turner:

John claimed that he wouldn't have dreamt of writing anything like 'When I'm Sixty-Four.' "John sneered at a lot of things," says [George] Martin. "They tended to be rivals... At the same time, he was thinking--that was bloody good. I wish I could do it."

I'm sure there's other books you can look in to find out more information, too... I just can't think of any specific ones offhand.

I dont know what the others would have thought of this song but I can imagine John and George, especially John wouldn't have cared too much for it.I mean, George was getting into some fantastic Eastern stuff and hanging out with Bob Dylan and the like and heres Paul writing a throwaway pop song.Dont get me wrong, I like YMSK but this is what I think they would have been thinking.
I'm sure Ringo would support anything any of them did!

I think youll find that Paul actually wrote "When Im Sixty-Four" when he was 16! (1958),he jus revived it in "67 to go/fit with the idea of the "concept".
