Default Come Together

Y'know when John wrote "Come together, right now, over me" do you think he actually meant "Come together right now over me"

I apologise if this is abit of a rude thread and I would understand if you removed it but its something that has been bugging me for ages and don't know anywhere else to ask.

PS I think he did.

I think he did too!

I'm not going to remove this thread, but as it's about a song, I'm going to move it to And Your Bird Can Sing. I don't think it's too rude!

I think what it means is meant to be a mystery just like the rest of the song.

I suppose it could be considered a double meaning type of lyrical mystery. I have always viewed it more as a non sexual meaning...but of course I had considered that as well.... To comment any more on this would most definitely not stay PG-13...so I shall stop.

Well, it was supposed to be a song for Timothy Leary's presidential campaign. But John is a sly wanker.

And Give Peace a Chance was an anthem for the peace movement, yet this didn't stop him from using the word 'masterbation' in it. He later said something along the lines of "I thought the message of peace was more important than me having my little joke so I wrote on the liner notes that the word was 'mastication', but it's really not". So he's an extremely sly wanker.

I feel he was to sly too to stoop to that obvious double meaning.

I never thought of it as sexual. I always just thought it meant like, come together which means get together or whatever, and then the over me part means like because of him. So get together because of him. I dont know if that makes any sense. Because if it was intended for that timmy guy, then hes was a leader so get together over him.
I hope that made SOME sense. lol.

I think it's about masturbation, peace and love.

I think he was being rude!!! In this day and age, singers seem to be able to use all sorts of explicit language and no-one cares! But back then, he had to be sly about it so it didn't get banned!!! As for it being a peace anthem.....well that's VERY well hidden IMO!!!!!
