Since this is a direct query about a film, I am going to move it to Act Naturally, where more people might actually see it.

I keep hearing rumors, but now I don't really believe them anymore, until there's an absolute official announcement at least. I've been a Beatle fan for five years now, and during that entire period I keep hearing "Help! will be released on dvd very very soon", but nothing's happened yet.

I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. First, a studio would need to acquire the rights to reissue the film (like Miramax did with AHDN), and last I heard, that hasn't happened yet.

DizzymissLizzy909 is right - we'll probably hear something official if there are any plans in the works. Anyway, I bet we'll see "Let It Be" out on DVD way before "Help!"

Yeah I have to agree with that one. Although I myself would love to see Help! come first

I already have Help on DVD unless it's a newer version of Help being released with added features that is.

It was originally released on DVD back in 1997 but it was discontinued. The American releases are apparently worth $200 now...

Bootlegs and counterfeits are rife though.

Well how does it explain that I got a brand new American copy of it just last year? IN fact you can still order a brand new copy of Help on DVD through Amazon. I checked it out myself to double check. See for yourself.

It may be a bootleg.

Which company produced it?

Why would amazon a company everyone knows about bootleg a dvd?

It wouldn't let me copy and paste the link on the post, so I posted the link on the title.

Note the $200 price tag and the sellers making it clear that the copies they're selling aren't bootlegs...

Amazon's "Help!" DVDs (and other out-of-print items they sell) aren't sold directly by Amazon - they're from "third party" sellers that use Amazon to make their sales. The sellers set their own prices, so the price can differ whenever a new seller offers a copy.

I'm not sure if the $200 ones up at Amazon now are legit or not. The "all regions" specification bothers me, because I was pretty sure that the original U.S. copies are Region 1 only. And Amazon has definitely been known to sell "Help!" bootlegs in the past! I know several people who bought copies from them that turned out to be knockoffs - some even had Asian characters on the cover, because they were produced in Korea or wherever and not in the U.S.

I don't think Amazon keeps that close a watch on their third-party sales (and besides, the knockoffs look "official" enough), so I doubt the company is aware that those aren't official copies. The knockoffs cost much less than the originals (maybe $30 or so), so that's one easy way to tell right away if it's an original or not. There are TONS of them on eBay too - again, the originals will be priced much higher than the knockoffs.

I've never seen the bootlegs for myself - I was lucky enough to grab an original copy a few years ago - but I've heard the contents are exactly the same as the originals. The quality is fine, too. So, considering that I doubt we'll be seeing an official reissue anytime soon, I'd recommend buying a knockoff copy anyway.

Oops, I should've checked out the sellers' descriptions before I posted! Harb's right - the 3 copies up at Amazon right now look like the real deal.

Apple really missed out on getting the DVD out for the 40th annivesary. I've been thinking it was going to happen. I guess not. They could've done the AHDN bonus disc bit with cast interviews and maybe what Monty Python did with the Holy Grail DVD - visit all the places in the movie!

The movie was released to theaters on Thursday, July 29, 1965. Perhaps they are waiting until the summer???

About 4 years back, a friend of mine bought a collection that came with *Help!,* *First US Visit,* and two other DVDs (can't remember which ones). I don't think it was a bootleg. . .

You'd think they'd have already started advertising for it though, right? Or we would've heard something about it in the works?

They didn't officially acknowledge the '04 First US Visit DVD till about 2 weeks before, about a week ahead for the Capitol box or Naked, so you likely wouldn't see anything on it till close to the date.
