Question Cloning John

No doubt everyone has read the story that the owner of John's molar, the dentist Michael Zuk, wants to clone John.
I have read different articles, all basically with the same info.
Yoko has apparently declined to comment.
I would just like to know if anyone cares to comment on this news.
It sounds bizarre to me. How could it be possible anyway?
It sounds like magic...abracadabra; here's John?

I'm sure Yoko is excited about the possibility of some new John Lennon recordings to exploit, er, I mean release.

A clone would not be John Lennon. It would be impossible to recreate John's childhood environment and experiences. I go into more detail about cloning in my two SF books, but while I'd love to discuss them, I don't want to derail this thread. ;)

On a serious note, John was a nonconformist, and if that trait has a genetic basis, I would expect his clone to rebel at being forced to act like his gene donor.

Like you, I've written about cloning in my SF books too. I even wrote one about cloning a Beatle, but not John. It was inspired by a story that appeared in Discover Magazine in the early 80s

If they've cloned other mammals, I don't know why they couldn't clone a human.

However much I love to imagine something this bizarro actually coming to fruition, I highly doubt this doctor is even serious. I mean, there are MAJOR ethical issues involved here and I would assume there are scientific protocols (and a few laws!) that prohibit people from attempting to clone an entire human being.

Default P.S.

But if they do successfully clone a new John Lennon, I will happily volunteer to be his Auntie Mimi!

Wouldn't that be something? Ha. They could collaborate. Maybe, even pose for a updated version of the Two Virgins cover.
