Default guitarists: Lead, bass, or rythm?

Which do you play/prefer to play?

I'm WAAAY more comfortable with rythm. Although I'm trying to learn more lead techniques.

I always saw myself as a "rhythm" guitarist. But every time I'd join a band, I'd somehow take on the "lead" duties. This was fine with me. I am comfortable with both, and can play a mean lead or hang back with a "riffy" rhythm part.

I kind'a like the "Keith Richard" approach... primarily rhythm, but taking on lead duties from time to time.

I'm definatly a Rhythm player in the style of Pete Townsend (except I can't afford to smash my guitars).

It is a matter of taste for me, that combination of raw talent and fretboard skills, and what you're comfortable with. i just like to play but i guess you could say that i enjoy rhythm guitar versus lead guitar duties, but i really don't see the difference.

Rhythm. People love it when you can accompany them as they sing along. With a few lead licks thrown in here and there you can't go wrong. It also "feels" better when I strum energetically than when I play just notes

My favorite to play is bass, and I think I'm fairly good at it.

As for guitar, I'm better at rhythm than lead. When I try to play guitar solos, I'm always hitting the wrong strings and I'm not very good. But I'm trying to get better.

I love playing bass, I've been told I "think like a bass player". I guess that's good. Unless I'm playing, like, flute or something.

Bass all the way for me. I feel more at home there than any other instrument. I play the occasional 12-string, as well, but really no interest in the six string variety (kinda strange, I know).

Oh, yeah - bass is WAY fun! I tend to play the bass like a guitar. Thus bassists like Chris Squire and, of course, Paul are my favorites because they do the same.

I'm mostly a lead player... but I'm still expected to play rhythm in between!

I'm a better bassist than anything, but I've been recruited to play rhythm and lead in my latest band.

I mostly play Rhythm but if I have to in a band I play lead. I can also play bass very well.
