Re-mastered catalog?
I was chatting with a fellow-Beatle fan friend yesterday - whom I only talk to occasionally - and he brought up the topic of the Beatles catalogue being available on iTunes, and subsequently on re-mastered CD's, as if it were happening very soon. I haven't heard anymore about it since the lawsuit between the two Apples wrapped up some months ago.
Anyone else hear more about this?

I haven't heard anymore. From what I know is that Neil is busy with the remastering, and that once the remasterd albums are out they can be used on ITunes.

I wish I had the White Album remastered - and quickly!

I keep hearing rumors about it but I'm not sure what to believe...

Ok, thanks everyone. My friend made it sound like something more definite was announced recently.

I just mailed a letter to Neil Aspinall 2 days ago requesting he release some more information about this project to the public. I also addressed the problems with the lack of Beatles video on DVD like HELP!, MMT, Let it Be, Shea Stadium, etc. (but that's another thread!).
If anyone else wishes to write to Neil, here's his home address:
Neil Aspinall
49 Waldergrave Park
Twickenham
Middlesex
UK
I urge everyone to write letters to Neil and maybe he will finally see that he and Apple are holding back precious material that Beatles fans crave and will buy.
So back to the topic of this thread: See my signature.

Yeah... Let it Be, Help!, and MMT are way over-due for re-release on DVD!
My friend seems to think that there will be "extras" on the re-mastered releases.... stuff that didn't make it onto The Anthology. That would be cool.

Do you mean extras on the remastered albums like bonus tracks? Or do you mean extras on DVD releases of HELP!, MMT, and Let It Be?
I certainly hope there wouldn't be any bonus tracks on the remastered albums, simply because it disturbs the integrity and flow of the "original" album. Rarities and outtakes should be reserved for individual collections. I applaud Columbia for not including any Bonus Tracks when they remastered the majority of Bob Dylan's catalog.

I tend to agree with you on the "bonus track" thing. Maybe if there are to be any bonus tracks, they'll be held strictly to the online purchases(?).

I doubt they will include anything extra on the albums, in any form, but another approach that they could take would be to put the extras on a separate disc (I imagine something like "Fly on the Wall" but not as lame); the original remains inviolate, but the features are there when you want them.

There are so many fabulous Remastered Editions out there ...
... from other great artists.
So I'd like to see all the Beatles Albums REMASTERED, extensively packed and of course with bonus tracks, but...
... the bonus tracks (other versions, other songs) on a second disc.
Man that would be great. I have all the Vinyls and still waiting since the eighties - centuries ;-) for the remasters to appear on CD (DVD?) ...............

It'll come out when Let It Be comes out on DVD.....NOT FOR A LONG TIME!
