Great song! Back when airlines let you play your tapes during takeoff, I always played this song LOUD to distract me from the takeoff (since I don't like those very much). I'm so bummed I can't do that anymore and for no logical reason.

Anyway, this is a great old throat ripper for Paul. Wonderful vocals.

Great rocker! What I like best is they seemed to have a lot of fun while recording this one (and Two of us, as well.)
Nice song choice!

Great song! And I especially love the middle bit, "all these years I've been wanderin'....." and John's descending guitar solo. Sooooo damn cool!

I heard "No More Lonely Nights" in a store last night and I hadn't heard that song in AGES and it just sounded so good that I want to suggest that one next.

I'm not usually a big fan of power ballads (which this sort of is), but I really like this song. Really nice melody, excellent vocals. The only things I don't like about it are the "na na na na" backing vocals - I think they're distracting.

Ooh, what a great song! I love the way the opening line is Paul alone, no music, no nothing. Everything just sort of "builds" with the song.

One of the highlights from a poor film, "No More Lonely Nights" is superbly written and arranged.

No More Lonely Nights (Ballad)

I can wait another day until I call you.
You've only got my heart on a string
And everything a-flutter.

But another lonely night might take forever,
We've only got each other to blame.
It's all the same to me, love,
'Cause I know what I feel to be right.

No more lonely nights,
No more lonely nights.
You're my guiding light,
Day or night, I'm always there.

May I never miss the thrill of being near you
And if it takes a couple of years
To turn your tears to laughter,
I will do what I feel to be right.

No more lonely nights, never be another,
No more lonely nights.
You're my guiding light,
Day or night, I'm always there.

And I won't go away until you tell me so,
No, I'll never go away.

Yes, I know what I feel to be right.

No more lonely nights, never be another,
No more lonely nights.
You're my guiding light,
Day or night, I'm always there.

And I won't go away until you tell me so,
No, I'll never go away.
And I won't go away until you tell me so,
No, I'll never go away.
No more lonely nights, no, no.

What a coincidence! I just received 'Give My Regards to Broadstreet' and have watched it a couple of times. This is one of the best songs in that movie. Great tune.

Great melody and SUPERB vocal performance.
Maybe that's why you like to blast it!

I agree! I love this song. Awesome vocals, great guitar work too.

Although, they could get rid of the "na na na" parts. I find that it really gives nothing to the song. Sounds like filler...

Band One the Run is such a great song (and album come to think of it!)
Paul performed it in concert last year and I never fully appriacated it until then.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Yeah, it is definitely one of those songs that sounds even better live. I've always liked it, but live, it really rocks.

I like the way it's really three mini-songs all blended together, but it sounds so seamless.

One of the best songs Paul ever wrote. The transitions in the song were well arranged and it never really skips a beat. Paul's first big hit after the Beatles.

Band On The Run

Stuck inside these four walls,
Sent inside forever.
Never seeing no one nice again
Like you, mama,
You, mama... you...

If I ever get out of here,
Thought of giving it all away
To a registered charity,
All I need is a pint a day,
If I ever get out of here.
(if we ever get out of here)

Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash
As we fell into the sun
And the first one said to the second one there,
"I hope you're having fun."

Band on the run, band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor Sam
Were searching everyone
For the band on the run, band on the run,
For the band on the run, band on the run.

Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh,
Seeing no one else had come
And a bell was ringing in the Village Square
For the rabbits on the run.

Band on the run, band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor Sam
Were searching everyone
For the band on the run, band on the run.

Yeah, the band on the run, the band on the run,
Band on the run, yeah, band on the run.

Well, the night was falling
As the desert world began to settle down.
In the town, they're searching for us everywhere,
But we never will be found.

Band on the run, band on the run
And the county judge who held a grudge
Will search for evermore
For the band on the run, the band on the run,
Band on the run, yeah, band on the run, yeah.

Getting this back to the top with another suggestion:

"I Do", from the sometimes overrated "Driving Rain"

I think this is a beautiful track, one of the highlights of this album. I'm particularly a fan of using violins, specially in a love song.
Paul said about this: "It was one of those 'if you only knew' songs, like just talking to someone; 'if you only knew, that it's OK from my side'. It's like a communicative statement to someone - 'whatever you think at any given time, remember this - I do'

Love it

I do (har har har) like this song quite a bit. One of the 4 songs on this album that I think are really good and up to par.

Ah...I agree with you both there, Rell and Cecilia! It is a *highly overrated* album, IMHO!!! And, that is one of the few passable tracks on it! Let's hope the new album offers us a bit more! ! Anyway....
