Default A Hard day\'s night

Hi! I'm new to Beatlelinks!

Well I got A Hard day's Night and Rubber Soul for my birthday, way back in October.
I straight away listened to Rubber Soul but kind of forgot about A hard day's night. So it is only recently I have listened to it and can't get the songs put of my head!
If anyone else has albums they like and want to talk about them please contact me!

Very cool albums!

I'm also new to BeatleLinks.

I remember when I got my Sgt. Pepper album (cd) I couldn't stop playing it, as with any Beatles album you just can't stop listening to them. I love the thrill of a new Beatles album I have not heard completely as a whole.

I just recently got the remastered George Harrisons 'All Things Must Pass', great album. The thrill once again for me with a new ablum!!!
I love it!!!!!

Hi Beatlebabe!

You're having a good introduction to the most impressive part of the musical world: the Beatles. Those two are very cool albums in their own time: A Hard Day's Night showcases some of the sparkling creativity and cheerful spirit that the lads had around 1964, and Rubber Soul is just a masterpiece in its own way, being one of my favorite albums, and surely one of the best albums of all time.

Keep coming back and posting. This is a fab forum.

Welcome the two of you, BeatleBabe and LennonLegend

The way Beatles songs works, is that they are simply a concentration of perfection... the melody, the way the words are composed, the way the voices get together, the little things that make a song unique... to get them all, I think you'll never had enough listening to them. That's the thing, that's what will let us listen to the Beatles songs (may they be band or solo ones), forever, without getting tired of them!

And, by the way, I love Stg Pepper too!

Hi...I'm new as well! I took a Beatles class at university and my professor suggested something to us that I found to be a wonderful experience, so I thought I would share it with all of you. I have been a Beatles fan since I was a wee thing, so I've listened to all the LPs many times as I'm sure most of you have, too. When we got to the Sgt. Pepper section of our class, my professor suggested that we try to listen to the LP as if we had never heard it before. Even super Beatles fans like us can sometimes take for granted how wonderful their music is and how revolutionary this LP was when it came out in 1967. So, find some time for yourself, turn off all the lights, close your eyes, and put the record, CD, or tape on. Then, try to imagine that you are hearing it for the first time, remembering that when Sgt. Pepper came out, there had never been anything like it (nor has there been since!). When I did this I found that I heard all sorts of things in the music that I had never heard before and that I appreciated it all the more. It is so relaxing and such a wonderful way to spend an evening. Let me know what you think!

Hi rita!

Let's get back to the mighty 1967, let's think to be excited since it's June 2, it's pretty warm outside, and it's the day when in the Record Shop I can buy the newest Beatles release... I am wondering, will it be another step forward after Rubber Soul and Revolver, one more innovative then the other, or they just can't go further, and it's another great LP, but no news? Well, it's 10 am, they should have gotten it in the stores...
I'm back! Running from the record shop to house, I could glimpse the cover... they are dressed in a cute way! and they are surrounded by many people... I should read better the booklet later, now it's time to start the listening...
Whoooooo, it has finished! What's this?? I really can't describe the record... Who are they? Are they martians... all those sounds, those ideas, those songs! Paul seems to be the leader of the LP, but there is those John song which are far out! I can't help singing ... Lucy in the sky with diamonds... and again! George used that sitar! He really got into indian (was it indian? sure it's not an usual one, oriental taste) music... and the words, he got spiritual... they have changed, really changed... also the mustaches! (I read the booklet meanwhile, they are the important people chosen by the lads... I think I'll study their life better in the next days, good ol' library!)... ok, I need the shock to be over, but let me finish: THEY ARE THE BEST!!!

P.S. best song so far... A Day In The Life, it's so new, so John and so Paul... so great! (I just can't understand what's the end, why that sound... but, a funny thing, doggy started to bark when he heard that!)

Wow, I didn't think mentioning Sgt. Pepper would bring back so many memories or (good) opinions at that. It's cool that everyone had something special to tell about this album. I agree Amalthea that 'A day In The Life' is by far the best song! And thanks for welcoming me!

Welcome to all 3 of you! You'll have a great time discussing anything Beatles here. So glad to see you all.
Beatlebabe - do you have Revolver yet? That album is my personal favorite - although ANY Beatle album is a cut well above anything else out there, imho.
Though it's been a while since I've heard Beatle albums "new", I do remember the feeling! It's like falling in love time after time.

Oh I guess lisa465 I should have said that I have not heard all the Beatles albums as whole thats why they would be new to me. I'm pretty young (18) so I guess I have a long way to go to hear all the albums as a whole, even though I have been a Beatles fan for a long time.
I know alot of their songs, it's just that I haven't heard the whole album of some.

Hi LL83, I think I knew what you meant, even if I didn't reply properly. I was listening to Beatle albums as a whole for the first time back a few years before you were born. I remember getting Rubber Soul for Christmas back in what must've been 78 or 79. What a fantastic feeling to hear it for the first time. Even now, when I listen to it, I can remember how I felt.
Again, welcome to you. So glad to have you here!

hullo again everyone!
Amalthea...your description of your Pepper experience was fabulous!! when i listened to it for the first time (as though it were the first time), i drew the shades, turned off the telephone, and got comfortable on the couch with a cup of tea. i'm so glad that you got so involved in your experience...it makes me want to do it all over again!!
i agree with you that "a day in the life" is the best song on the album...i love the orchestral arrangements, mal counting off so paul won't come in late, and, especially, john's lyrics and guitar. it's really hard for me to pick a favourite song off Pepper, but this has to be it. i also love "getting better" because it was a true collaboration between john and paul. the story goes (for those who haven't heard it) that paul was sitting at the piano with john working on the song's lyrics. he started singing "i've got to admit it's getting better, it's getting better all the time," at which point john jumped in, without missing a beat, with "it can't no worse!" they were so in tune with one another, yet such opposites at the same time...it made for a brilliant team. i also have to admit that i am a bit partial to "lovely rita," she is my namesake, after all! i just love how paul says "book!" as for the title track, i completely agree with what george martin said about paul's singing..."you can hear the sawdust in his voice." it really feels as though he is a ringmaster leading us through an incredible show! lastly...since i'm taking up quite a bit of space...there's "she's leaving home." first of all, it's one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. secondly, the way paul is the voice of the daughter and john represents the parents is amazing. paul is so convincingly torn and john is doing his best to put on his "grown up" voice for us. it is just breathtaking. the day after they recorded it, george told someone that the beatles had just recorded their most beautiful song. Pepper is an amazing record and a phenomenal experience!
thank you all for listening to my rambling!! i love sharing what i've learned and what i love about our boys...sometimes i get a bit carried away! "now it's time to say goodnight..."

My favorite Beatles album is Revolver. All of the tracks are solid and it has a little bit of everything for everyone.
