"Pure Gold," great Paul comp?
For an album that features contributions from 4 blokes known as John, Paul, George, and Ringo, I've always thought that Ringo's ROTOGRAVURE lp (1976) was highly underrated. "Pure Gold" has been stuck in my head lately. I love Paul and Linda's back up bit. It's certainly a good McCartney song but is it great enough for Ringo? What do you think the best song Paul wrote for Ringo is?

The best song he did for Ringo was by far "Six O'Clock."
"Pure Gold" would be so much better if Paul sang it.

Yes I like "Six O'Clock" but I think "Pure Gold" works even better for Ringo... it's a truly beautiful old fashioned song and features lines that accomodate pretty well to his vocal tones (in "Six O'Clock" he has to sing waaaaaaay too low). I love the background vocals and the arrangement as well, and if I think about interpretations only, then I have to say it's the best song out of the three that his ex bandmates gave him.
Because "I'll Still Love You" is a GREAT song but it's even better when George sings it. "Pure Gold" is great with Ringo singing.

I agree 100%, allong with the reat of ''Rotagravure'', ''Pure Gold'' is very much under-rated !

I'm glad we're agreeing after the huge disagreement we had over Press To Play!
