Question Beatles at Shea Stadium remaster?

I just caught the tail end of "I'm Down" from the 65 Shea show on Beatle Brunch. It sounded fantastic! Is their a new (finally) release??

Probably not. But a year so ago, a new tape was "discovered" so what you heard is probably from that.

Is that from the 'line feed' that is on the bootleg sites?

Yeah I think so. It's a lot more clean than anything that was out before it. And the old bootlegs were edited and overdubbed a lot. So this is the original audio. It's in the premium forum amigo.

I never liked the fact that they actually went into the studio to try and "re-create" some of their performances for the TV special.

I prefer, of course, the original unadulterated live Shea performances.

Even on "The Anthology" DVD, they over-dubbed "Twist And Shout" from The Hollywood Bowl over their Shea performance. I remember the first time I watched, I was like, "Hey! Hey! Hey! I know that performance! That's from the Hollywood Bowl!"..... soon to notice things like Paul and George singing "Whoooo!" together, yet George had backed away from the mic and there should have only been Paul's vocals.

I think "I Feel Fine" sounds odd, too. I'm sure that was re-done in the studio. At the very end, you hear George(?) slide up the fret board on a string, yet he's bowing to the crowd as you hear it. LOL!!!

I like it alot. After listening to the regular version of the show for a zillion years, it's kind of a breath of fresh (unadulterated) air. Plus you've got 'Everybody's Trying...' which was always left out.

I prefer it to the 'regular' Shea Stadium- There's nothing wrong with Twist and Shout, I Feel Fine or Help (bar technical mishaps!) the three songs they 'replaced', although Act Naturally, just Ringo out-of-tune and cymbals, did need some work! Anyway, it's great to hear She's a Woman, mysteriously left out of the finished film but it was on the original print Brian Epstein Okayed- who knows, maybe one day we'll get to see it!!!!

One of the great things about The Anthology 2: Hearing "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby" in all its unaltered glory. Great, energetic performance!

The thing I never understood is why ''Everybody's.." was left out. I'd read that it was due to time constraints in the film, but if that's true, it's ridiculous. The Beatles were the main act for cry-ay. They only played for about 23 minutes and they could have taken out part of one of the 80 opening acts if it was in fact because of time (except don't mess with Sounds Incorporated. That lead singer was a God and those dance steps in 'Fingertips' were the best EVER Daddy-O).

I'm with Hof on this one. That 8/15/1965 concert was in a class all by itself and it would be a damn shame to tamper with that important part of Beatles' history!

I have the 1965 Shea Stadium concert on CD.... and it sounds just fine to me.

Inspired by this thread, I just popped the CD in a few seconds ago, and the level of the screaming was unbelievable! "Twist And Shout" sounds great considering. It should have been presented, as is, on The Anthology. There was no need to over-dub the Hollywood Bowl performance in its stead.

Default Two questions:

- Is the 'board feed' Shea bootleg represented on the YD release a couple of years ago?

- Where is the best place on the web to listen to Beatle Brunch? What time does it air? Is there a podcast?

Thanks

What is YD and why does everyone have to acronym everything these days? Are you talking about Yellow Dog or what?

Only reason I broke out the acronym was because I didn't know if it was necessarily kosher to outright mention bootlegs in this section, or not.

Yes, YD is Yellow Dog. The specific bootleg I'm asking about is this one:

The Beatles And The Great Concert At Shea!

Just curious if this is the title you guys were referring to earlier in the thread.

Bump. Any follow up on this? Anyone know if I have the correct bootleg?

Yeah, the Yellow Dog is the bootleg that I have, with the best sounding Shea concert. Or at least the best sounding one I've heard.
